  1. While it is nice to hear you are making a new friend, I'm sorry to hear of the circumstances of your getting better acquainted. Hang in there.

If you have homeowners or renters insurance, be aware that you have coverage for "loss of use" of your dwelling and additional expenses you incur as a result of this. Call your insurance agent. They may put you up in a hotel, or reimburse you for any rent you pay your friend.

So here's the issue: there's a high probability that there are no hotel rooms available. Still, that is good advice as the insurance company could cover any incidentals that @BgMstr4u might require.

  2. Since Amazons Biz has exploded and they offer next day service -they are using local courier services. I had two related packages being delivered from the same order, one in a cardboard box the other in the manufacturers packaging showing that it was audio equipment ---- Guess which box did not get delivered? I was home and asked the driver and he hemmed and hawed and um'ed Finally NO JUST THE ONE ----

Im sure he is enjoying my bookshelf stereo system --- and that was the last one! When it came back into stock it was $50 more -- even though Amazon admitted it was there fault -- no discount!

I am NOT a fan of Amazon's delivery service. Have to say that a lot of the delivery people in my area are rather sketchy-looking. On three separate occasions I received a text that they could not access my location (I live in a gated apartment complex) and each time I have reminded them that they can deliver at the front office.

PS: I "liked" your post because I empathize with you, not because I'm glad your bookshelf stereo system was taken by the delivery guy was lost in shipping.

  3. Sorry. I guess I take it for granted. I’ve never had to worry about my amazon packages ever...

Although I don't worry about package theft or expect it to occur, I'm aware that it happens.

I'm in the process of working with UPS on a missing package. The tracker states it was "Released -other." They can't explain what that is supposed to mean, as the tracker states "left in office" when they leave at the office and "left at door" when they leave it at the front door. I suspect they either delivered it to the wrong address or misplaced it.

  4. I love this board, and have been posting going on 1 year. For those with lots and lots to say, make your key points and limit them to no more than a paragraph. Otherwise, your content is primarily ignored.

Mostly political rants are guilty of this, but we're for the most part here to interact with others about things that don't require too much to reply about, and certainly not looking at something "War & Peace"-esque.

    When faced with long posts

    Ignore the content swiftly

  5. Thanks @rvbwnsd sounds like a good plan. I can't wait to get rid of those annoying timers I have hooked up to some lights and get some on a cycle that I've wanted but never did. :)

Yeah, light timing is the gateway drug. Next thing you know you will be turning lights on and off and dimming them from your phone.

  6. This is a cool ass thread and I am so glad I read it. I just replaced two 150W halogen ceiling lights in my Kitchen with two 21W LED ceiling lights. I got at Costco. I was a little worried at 1st that the LEDS wouldn't give me the same amount of light as the halogens. They actually give me more and I'm lovin them. Can't wait to see what kind of drop I have in my electric bill since I am saving 258W per hour on average 6-8 hours per day.

I am really intrigued by the Hue System. It sounds like you can start off small and keep building. If that's the case, where is the best place to start. Are there mistakes that can/should be avoided? Did the "Dummy Series" come out with "Hue for Dummies" yet or is there a good web site I should look at to help me get started. Other than the earlier one mentioned, is Hue the only game in town or is it just the best game in town based on your experience Any guidance/direction by those with experience would be greatly appreciated. PMs are fine. I didn't know what to get myself for Christmas this year, now I do and it will beat last years dead furnace replacement by a long shot.

Thanks JJ for starting this thread and everyone, especially BN, for sharing their knowledge.:)

If you are interested in the Hue system I'd start out with the white light bulb starter kit and use it to replace any light timers you might have around the house. If you start out with a few bulbs you will get to know how the system works in general before you try playing with colors and switches and whatnot. It is a great system, but there are some quirks in the way it creates programs that require getting used to.

  7. i have a real fetish for huge pecs and big natural sensitive nips. Any providers in OC or LA into pec fucking?

    Thanks in advance

46 views and nada? There’s got to be a muscle guy in LA that might be into this?

Well, you did say you were looking for someone into pec fucking. Given the discussions I've seen in the seventeen years of browsing and ten-plus years of posting in the forum I haven't seen many (or any) posts about that topic, which leads me to believe it isn't a particularly popular activity that would garner many recommendations.

My advice is to ask escorts who have huge pecs if they would be into that and then come back and ask for opinions on the provider/providers you select.

  8. Many of these products are similar in nature and often depend on the issuing bank....

    True, to a point.

...Cashier's Check Are checks signed and guaranteed by the bank. This means the funds are coming from the bank instead of your account -- which usually means they immediately take the money from your account. This is usually the most secure of the options and usually doesn't have many restrictions...

The customer purchases the cashier's check and is immediately charged for it via a charge to the account. There's no "usually" about it. I would not call it the most secure, as it can get lost and the purchaser has no way to know whether it has been negotiated unless they contact the bank and the bank researches the item. It does guarantee immediate or near-immediate availability up to a dollar threshold that varies by institution in which it is deposited. They are also widely counterfeited.

...Certified Check Are checks signed by the customer, certified by the bank that you have enough funds and that your signature is genuine. Usually, but not always - the bank will set aside the funds...

There are two ways these work. 1) The bank puts a hold on the account in the amount of the certified check and 2) the bank debits the amount from the customer's account, posts them to a special account controlled by the bank, and places a MICR-encoded sticker with the bank's account number on top of the customer's account number. These are no longer widely used, as banks prefer to issue cashier's checks.

...Bank Draft Similar to a certified check but the bank will set aside the funds until the bank draft is used. Generally used in transactions involving larger sums...

In the US, it refers to an instrument that is drawn on the bank's account held at a different bank. These are typically not used in conjunction with retail accounts. A bank's trust department might use them, however. In other countries, "Bank Draft" refers to a cashier's check.

... Money order It's a payment order similar to a certified check; however, it needs to be prepaid. Also money orders may have maximum face values allowed....

They are actually similar to cashier's checks, the distinction being the payee is typically filled in by the purchaser. Banks are phasing out money orders, but grocery and convenience stores still sell them in droves. They are also widely counterfeited.

...I'm surprised about all this issue, @samhexum thanks for sharing this story.

I'll preface this by saying I don't think @samhexum made this up, but I don't believe the story is 100% accurate. If the bank were to re-issue the check, the original would have a stop-payment issued against it. Were it to be negotiated, the check would be returned. Requiring an affidavit in conjunction with a stop payment is not uncommon. My guess is the affidavit specifies that the payee becomes liable for the money if they negotiate the check and/or indemnifies the bank if the purchaser is placing a stop payment in bad faith.

Why Wasn't it sent REGISTERED/INSURED/POSTAL and in the alternative

for nearly 900K I would hire a limo to take me or a bonded courier to bring it to me

You Send Candy/Underwear/and Slings via UPS ==

And the Bank - telling the sister to send a Draft -- Why didn't the Attorney's Bank just wire transfer the money from the Escrow account to the beneficiary!

That is who you sue -- The Lawyer for malpractice and stupidity!

What I think happened is the bank suggested a wire transfer and the sister balked at the fee, so they offered a cashier's check as an alternative.

As a retired lawyer nearing 70, I must say this is the most ridiculous attempt to transfer funds I've ever heard of. UPS??? Really? Why not an interbank electronic transfer of funds?

I agree with you. In the US, a sum this large would be sent via FedWire, i.e. a wire transfer. It reaches the destination bank almost immediately upon being sent, unless there is an intermediary bank involved in which case a few hours might be tacked on. The funds are also immediately available. ACH is typically not used because 1) the fastest they can be sent is next-day, 2) they can be returned by the issuing bank, and 3) the account has to be set up to send ACH's, which typically does not occur with estate accounts. Most countries (Canada included) have the equivalent of FedWire, so there is no reason a wire could not have been sent.

They need to sign the affidavit, pick up the check, and immediately deposit it into their own account or have a wire sent.

  9. Interesting thing happened on the way to the forum. I contacted him and all communication was great. We agreed to his traveling to my place. As it was his first time meeting with me he wasn't willing to eat my cooking and because of discretion wouldn't eat in a restaurant so he suggested take out -- silly but OK with me. My last communication with him was as follows: "Just a couple additional questions prior to setting a date and a time to meet. Are your rentmen photo current"? Is your stated age correct? I usually prefer guys a bit older. You mentioned take out. Like what would you prefer". DEAD SILENCE. That was two day ago. I can only assume his photos are NOT current and/or his age is NOT correct.

Oh well on to other fish in the ocean.

    Well there you have it.

    Bullet dodged.
