Autumn is such a beautiful season. I took a trip to the Catskills area in Putnam County, NY. The colors and weather this season were perfect! I walked along the Empire State Trailway which extends from the Bronx to the Canadian border. It was recently written up in the Sunday NY Times Travel Section.

One special area I walked was the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Croton Reservoir. There, the Autumn colors reflected off the crystal clear waters that eventually will become the drinking water for NYC.

I enjoyed the pleasant smell of the falling leaves that filled the fresh clean air and the amazing colors the leaves created in what was like a carpet covering the trail.

The sunshine  added comfortable warmth and a beautiful sparkling to the colors.

I walked for about 4 miles, took many pictures, and had such a relaxing & peaceful day with my friends.

The leaves in that area have all fallen as the peak season isn’t that long. Also, the gusty winds we recently had took all the remaining leaves off the trees.

There’s no cost to walking the Empire State Trailway which was once a RR line. You can pick the trail up in multiple places where parking is available. Not only were people walking but there were joggers, bikers, parents pushing strollers, dog walkers, etc. Occasionally, I would see deer grazing along the trail.

I truly enjoy the 4 Seasons in NY. Nature has so much beauty to offer.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. Love the fall colors in the northeast. Did a trip 2 weeks ago to the Brandywine valley in Delaware and that was nice too :)

    Good points!

I generally like cats, but given my limited time, I could fit in other places to visit instead.

I was about to ask exploring the local gay scene is worth it but the Eagle Tokyo alone sold me on trying.

For Kyoto, I'm only there for the day time activities so no expectations on the nightlife. Osaka, I'm fine with skipping for this trip.

    A few questions:

    • What are you favorite places to eat in Tokyo?
    • Is Kyoto worth seeing for 3 nights or should I save it for a longer trip to the Kansai region?

3 nights is fine, including a day trip to Nara.

I did not, thanks for the suggestion and tips! I'll look into options for a night in the Hakone/ Mt Fuji area.

I'm usually not much of a shopper, I tend to stick to carry on items only, but I'm considering spending more time shopping for skincare and other fun art, ceramics, books, gadgets, and other cool items to take home with me.

You will like Don Quixote- they have so many gadgets and electronics. You can spend a whole day there!. I noticed others have mentioned a cat cafe. If you are in the Harajuku/ Meiji Shrine area… there are a few cat and rabbit cafes next to each other as well as the famous Harujuku dumpling house.

Not sure if others have mentioned, but the food halls in Ginza - Mituskoshi are fantastic.  For upmarket stuff, Isetan is the place to go. But, it’s nice to do shopping in the small neighborhood stores, where it seems every store specializes in something unique.

  4. For a ryokan, have you considered doing a side trip to Hakone/ Mt Fuji? You can do that on your way from Tokyo to Kyoto. Lived in Tokyo for 2 years… you mentioned a lot of nice spots. Hoshinoya in Kyoto can also provide a nice experience.

Do you like shopping? There are a lot of cool local stores that sell pottery and japanese ceramics. Tokyo Midtown has a nice shopping mall with some traditional stores selling handicrafts that make great souvenirs.  Do check out some fun neighborhoods Naka Meguro, Azabu Juban, Omotesando/ Harajuku neighborhoods.

Have fun! Don’t forget when taking cabs you don’t need to open or close the doors. The drivers hate that. Just let them open and close (automatically) for you. Also, if navigating the subway system, make sure you know what exit you  are exiting as exits can be whole neighborhood blocks away, even though the subway station is the same.

Cause somebody in LA advised him so….. I’ll leave that there.

There are plenty of guys who would pay that... but unfortunately, it's a no go for me. I'm sure those who have tried him are happy but i'd rather spend that on a local regular.

  6. I love puzzles and anything requiring concentration and problem solving. Since the lockdown March 2020, I’ve done a lot of complex paper folding and knot tying - learned from books, but more recently YouTube videos. I started the new hobby of knot tying last year during the pandemic when I was a slightly bored and looking to keep my fingers/ mind busy. It requires a  lot of visualization and dexterity.  I also started playing old piano competition pieces and working on a Schubert piano (Fantasie in F minor) duet with my good friend.

I’d love to learn wood working and the japanese art of kumiko- using little jigs to assemble a lattice. Alas, i do not have the space for such a hobby… perhaps in the future.

That's post covid New York city prices which I haven't quite fully accepted. I'm balking even 350, unless its a 10/10 in all aspects and is a sure hit ( previous hire or comes with referrals as well as glowing reviews) In my mind, I can just hire when I travel ( which thankfully @jetlow is back on a jet plane at least once a month now) , at much lower rates, with the convenience of a hotel also while on the road.  400 is a non starter even without the uber.

I don't care how hot he is. NO.

Its nice that the richer dadies can afford this, I'm still saving for my retirement.

You are right. It is hard to justify.

  8. I just saw friend's post about this on NYC's newfest. The actors look gorgeous. I just bought the ticket for the virtual stream. Looking forward to watching this. I saw in an online interview that protestors shut down the screening of the film in Moscow. Anyhow, we can all purchase the link here to watch  it:

  9. Believe it has to do with flimsy clothing and wanting to maintain a trim silhouette.

What does living in Palm Springs have to with anything?  I live in NYC and wear t-shirts and shorts from late March until roughly Halloween, when I switch to t-shirts and sweatpants.

I read something earlier this year that I'd forgotten until I watched the season premiere of LOVE IT OR LIST IT.  The real estate industry is going to stop using the terms master bedroom, master bath, master suite because they conjure up images of slavery, I guess.  Every time Hillary, David, or the homeowners mentioned the 'main suite' I wondered how many takes it took to not say the word master.

Correct. I think the word now is “Principal” bedroom  when referring to where the primary resident/homeowner lays his head.

He’s not into jewelry!!! Shockingly  He’s loving his Dolce and Dior and Balenciaga, and get this…..  Carhartt. Like workmen’s Carhartt is apparently a designer fashion brand for college kids. Who knew. I’m not super into labels and brands. They don’t mean that much to me.  Lol he tried to make an analogy I’d understand.

He said “these shoes will make me as happy as last night made you.”  That I understood lol

He’s an American size 13 shoe, which is a European 47!  The French look at him in disgust whenever he asks for his size lol

If only i could find someone who said that to me :) Lucky you Coolwave!!!

I’m glad he wasn’t high or heartbroken like your guys lol. Looking back I do think he was using a translation service.

We have been shopping our butts off. He got lots of sexy underwear and we’re going to take photos later that I’ll be sure to share with you all!

Today’s agenda is the IDM Bath house after our scooter site seeing tour. He’s never been to a bath house and we are both super excited to be going. As is often the case, I’m sure he’ll handle those intensely sexual situations far better than I, but I’ll find some hidden magic in the experience for sure.

Believe the jeweler, JAR, is not too far from there.. perhaps a little bijoux for your boy too?  :) Love reading about your Parisian adventure :)
