I was planning on a trip to London later this month partly to see Sunset Boulevard.  I started to get concerned about the show when I was seeing reactions last week.  To be sure, some people loved it.  I don't, however, think the "minimalist" approach is the right way to go with a show like Sunset Boulevard.  I also agree with Ali Gator that this show needs sets and costumes.   I think I'll put off my trip to early 2024 when I can see Plaza Suite with Mathew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker (also at the Savoy).

From everything I'm reading on social media, theater forums, etc. for the past week of performances :  This show needs costumes and settings. It can not survive on the score alone, no matter how much the cast tries to make it happen. General consensus is that Jamie Lloyd was the wrong choice for the 30th anniversary revival.

I doubt it's moving with her, as she's not enough of a name in the States to carry the show.  Plus, she's sitting tight until they close Sunset so she can move to the Chicago company of Death Becomes Her for it's pre-Broadway tryout (or, so I'm told).
I haven't seen this new production of Sunset yet, but will in a couple of weeks.  The director is known for this being his shtick.  Jamie Lloyd has a calling card in his direction and artistic style.  Lots of black & white.  White sneakers.  Blood.  Lots of video.  People exiting the theatre into the streets outside.
He's done it with his productions of Evita, A Doll's House, Cyrano and Assassins.

This past week, Nicole Scherzinger (of 'The Pussycat Dolls') made her debut at the Savoy Theater in the "totally-reimagined", highly anticipated, 30th Anniversary production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical SUNSET BOULEVARD. Under direction of Jamie Lloyd, do not expect the lavish, opulent production which debuted in London (starring Patti Lupone) in July, 1993 or the lavish, opulent Broadway production starring Glenn Close in 1994. Don't expect the scaled-down setting (but beautifully costumed) revival starring Glenn Close on both sides of the Atlantic in 2016-17.

Lloyd is a 'minimalist' director - which means no costumes, no settings, and no props. Just actors and minimal lighting, and a 17 member orchestra. Going after a much younger audience than the original or the revival, its said he has 'sexed up' this musical (an intimacy coach has been hired for the sex scenes between Scherzinger and costar Tom Francis), and sets the tone early on as you enter the theater in complete darkness. Norma's costumes have been replaced with just one silky, sexy dress for every scene and the rest of the cast have traded in their 1950s drag for more modern clothing (hoodies and sweats, at least for this week's previews).

So far, the previews have gotten mixed reactions from audience members - going in to see a Jamie Lloyd directed musical, they all knew what they were getting. Tom Francis (and his beautiful body) has fared the best in their personal reviews, while Scherzinger has gotten mixed (saying she played some scenes as though she was performing with the Pussycat Dolls). Though Norma is supposed to be 50, Scherzinger is 45 and made up to look like she's in her 30s  -  just a few years older than 'Joe', not 20 years older.  The ending and the curtain call shocked everyone (as Lloyd intended) , and video of the curtain call can be found on line.

How's it selling on the West End ? This limited engagement, running for 16 weeks before it closes in early January, is not selling as expected. As of this past week, performances through October show ticket availability at 80%. We shall see if reviews after opening night will make a difference.

Will it hit Broadway next year for the 30th Anniversary ?  Broadway insiders say yes - with Nicole and Tom in talks to transfer with it. However, with so many revivals opening in the second half of the 2023-24 season, expect to be part of the 2024-25 season. Sources for ATG (which is financing this show) have been 'scouting theaters' for next season - small theaters to be exact, as they don't need a lot of room for a handful of actors in the cast, no staging or props, and a minimal orchestra of 17 musicians.

I hate to break this to you, but that is exactly what you were doing. You were in Canada, prices are in Canadian dollars. You were asking for $340 (in CAD). People there don't give a toss what your price is in American dollars, or Vietnamese dong for that matter. They also don't care what your rate would be in New York. All they care about is the price in Canadian dollars and how that compares to the market rate in the city you're in. (Some people may be prepared to allow you some leeway on your rate because you are from the US, or to be prepared to pay you in the USD equivalent of your Canadian rate, but you would be unwise to expect it.)
I hired a US escort who I had previously met in the US when he was in Sydney. He told me he didn't know the rates here so I asked him his US rate and paid that (I hadn't settled a price and had AUD and USD on me). If it had been a new guy I wouldn't have done that, I'd have expected him to have an Australian rate and only hired him if I thought it was worth it for a hire in Sydney.

Just got back from Montréal a few days ago. Always a good time. I only made it out to the strip clubs the Saturday night of my visit. I checked out both Campus & Stock (each will hand-stamp if you ask, so you can leave & come back the same night).
Both were pretty busy and entertaining but the dancers at Stock were more my type looks-wise. I could definitely see the Campus men appealing to some customers, though. The Stock dancers were generally a lot more aggressive in trying to get me to go in the back for some private dances.
I did go in the back for a few at Stock with handsome, hairy Fredi (Freddie?), who wasn’t aggressive out front (but friendly in the back!). He’s not on their website but he does show up briefly in another dancer’s video sample (23 seconds into Gatuso’s). https://www.stockbar.com/en
Gatuso & Santiago each gave me their pitches to go in the back, and I suspect either would have been a lot of fun. I was just getting tired & didn’t want to go crazy with spending on my first night of the trip. (I thought I’d be back the next night, which unfortunately didn’t work out.)
Bbuck was also there and looking HOT too. He had some facial stubble and was quite acrobatic during his turn on the pole. I think he also had some chest hair (a plus for me).
I didn’t notice much panhandling or apparent junkies in the Village that Saturday night, despite what I’ve seen in some other Montréal posts on here.
The ArriveCAN and U.S. MPC (Mobile Passport Control) apps each made getting through the Montréal airport faster. (MPC is only for U.S. passport holders, I believe.)
The 747 bus into town was packed on Saturday night but had plenty of room Tuesday morning going to the airport. If you buy a 3-day pass for C$22, that’ll let you ride the 747 ($11 one-way if you only buy a ticket for that) as well as the metro unlimited for 3 days. For the 747 back, I bought a 1-day anywhere-Zone-A pass for $11, and that includes use of the airport bus.
(And besides being a quick, affordable way to get around, the Metro seems to have a lot of hot men riding it most of the time. Including some hot Middle Eastern guys in case you like them, which I do.)
The botanical garden is wonderful as ever, but I would eat elsewhere unless you’re a hardcore vegetarian or vegan. Their restaurant has gone all-veggie & I didn’t really care for the items I tried.
As for money: The exchange rate is great right now if you’re American. Hardly anywhere takes Discover, so make sure you have Visa or Mastercard.

Only answering your questions here, though there are other details some may want to know about.
There's no stage show. Entertainers wander the room fully naked. Some entertainers will be much more popular than others.
The lapdance area is fairly dark and one big room. Not private. Several chairs/sofas with other lapdances going on near you. You.can ask your guy to find a less crowded spot if available.
Show up 30-60 minutes after starting time. There will be several customers and several entertainers already. Some customers sit along the side of the room and watch and others chat up other customers or entertainers. Be ready for the entertainers to approach you trying to drum up business. Bring a variety of dollar bill denominations.

I went twice in the past two weeks. I'm currently vacationing in Barcelona. The first time I went was on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pouring rain. The place was not too full of people, and there were mostly young guys, but none of them I could characterize as muscular. Also, I didn't see a single one from Spain, if that matters to you. I hooked up with a young guy from the Dominican republic and got the worst BJ I've ever had in my life. He did seem very inexperienced at everything, from the moment he approached me, immediately offered me a considerable discount from the rather overpriced rate, and he was just awkward. Left after that because the place didn't feel right for me.
The second time was in the early evening, and there were many guys to choose from, some muscular, but most twink types, with one or two with a few strings of grey. That time I had a "massage" with a nice young Colombian man who actually knew well how to give massages. The extras were just ok. Didn't up-sell for more. Then after that I got a nice young Cuban man. I don't know what to say about this, maybe it was what I was projecting or who knows what, but the session felt more like a therapy session. We literally stopped to start talking about anxiety medication, his past addiction treatment and my OCD. If that was a trick for him to get the money without any action, who knows. However, I did take some time to talk to him at the bar before going into a room. He told me that the vast majority of his clients there don't talk much and go "to the point". Who knows.
There were many other guys who look really good, and they were diverse in type, role and physical appearance. The facilities are good, rates are up for negotiation, guys are friendly and not pushy (they get the "no" right away if you say no). However, it seems like the muscle guys expect to be approached. Not a one went to anyone asking for anything, at least when I was there. The address of the place is easy to find and feels like a safe neighborhood, and the process of entering and paying is easy. All-in-all is a good place. I'm still evaluating if it is for me.
This is my first time trying a place like this in my entire life, so I personally wouldn't count my experience as something that is what usually one can get in a place like that. Just my two cents.
