I had a bit of swelling that lasted about 8 days.  It was a little tender too.  Totally worth it given the alternative.

Some pretty graphic photos on a MP sufferer in the UK.  He also had un-diagnosed syphilis and HIV so he was more susceptible to a severe case of MP.  If these photos don't cause one to take pause I don't know what would.

Child vaccination rates in the US have been dropping for years.  I guess it was inevitable polio would rear it's ugly head again.  Here is an article from today's paper citing the issue of lower vaccination rates amongst Michigan toddlers.  I'm sure the same is happening in many states across the country.

First of all...I'm not sharing any load.  I want it all for me🤪!
Secondly, the key to keeping the politics forum at least somewhat civil is having clear rules and then ensuring rule-breakers face consequences.  As long as that is happening, I'm quite happy for the politics forum to remain.  Things seem to be running quite well right now.
The summer break from the politics forum turned out to be helpful.  I personally have adopted a new approach now.  I simply do not engage with posters I consider baters and trolls.  Whilst I have put no-one officially on the ignore list, I am effectively ignoring them and their posts.  I have seen enough of their views and beliefs on the politics forum.  I don't consider their contributions to be of value to me and I have no reason to read the same comments they make endlessly.  Why bother even reading their input and then getting into an on-line yell-fest.

The Lounge is one of the few forums I visit here. I understand there are new forums for specific interests, however when new people join a site like this, they will look for the general discussion area. Here, it is the Lounge.
I don't know how much traffic the others get, and where it may be minor banter here, that is the point. The other forums have a topic, this is the one place open to allow members to joke, vent, discuss, and so on. Interaction by members not posting in the same forum will be here.
I think closing this forum will reduce the number of new participants as it raises the work for entry, and dissatisfy the current membership as it's the open hangout place.

I didn't announce the death of my son until we requested removal of life support.
Of course we knew he was already gone days before.
It's definitely a matter of perspective.

Another productive post. You sound like a broken record.
You were already warned by the moderators, and your previous "contributions" have been deleted by them.

He hasn't been to Montreal in years. Before COVID, he would post about how much he hated the city but now he likes to post random YouTube and Facebook videos and photos. Actual comments about experiences in the city and visiting strip clubs would be more appropriate.

Available in NJ.  They rolled out some new locations to get the shot but believe it is only for NJ residents (given that specific question they asked).  It didn't appear it would be restricted to only people exposed

It’s readily available in Virginia, or at least the northern suburbs outside of DC. All the jurisdictions offering it are making it available to any resident of VA.

Anne Heche to be removed from life support today according to a statement from the family.
A week after the crash, Heche was "brain dead" but remained on life support, according to a statement from her family and friends shared with CNN by their representative. Heche has matched with an organ recipient and will be taken off life support on Sunday, a representative for her family told CNN.    https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/12/entertainment/anne-heche-family-statement/index.html

I think that she will be kept on life support until her organs are removed, then with the ventillator turned off her heart will stop due to lack of oxygenation.

Most unfortunate.  Apparently she was held on life support to determine whether her organs could be given to others, as she requested.  If her death gives new life to others, that's something positive arising from tragedy.  Her life was often troubled by mental health problems and leaves two sons, 20 and 13, surely grieving the loss of their mother.

I also regret that she harmed others on the way out of this world.  I hope her heirs and estate executors will try to set that right.

Just got my first vaccine at SF General. The line was not too long, and the whole operation was very well run. I arrived at 11 am and was out of there in about 40 minutes total. I'd expected it to be a shit-show, but I gotta hand it to them they've got the process down.
