I went there two weeks ago (before the CDC announced the new mask policy). I thought they were very well organized. The two of us were met at the door and escorted to a place at the bar 6 feet from the nearest patron. The bar was limited to 50% capacity at that time. The bartenders and dancers wore masks as well as the patrons until they were served a drink. We were able to walk up to the stage (with our masks on) and tip the dancers. One of our favorite dancers stopped by the bar where we were sitting to talk to us as usual. This was on a weeknight, and he said that on weekends, there is a line outside where people wait to get in. (two come out; two come in). So different from Florida where I was the previous month where over half of the patrons were maskless and smashed into the place at full capacity. (I didn't stay long)

How odd. I just re-read the entire thread and I don't detect a hint of self-loathing from any poster. I note that people have personal preferences, likes, & dislikes. So what? Why are you so offended by this? Why must we all acquiesce to what your vision of masculinity is?

West End theatre slowly re-opening...wonderful! I can't wait to get back over there once we are able as I love doing theatre trips to London. I have cousins in England so I get to kill two birds (theatre & family) with one stone. There is an expectation that Americans may be able to start traveling to the UK again in June or July. Hopefully that will happen as I'd love to go ASAP.

I agree with you that the gay scene has evolved everywhere, which I attribute to the Internet as well as other social factors. Of course, I have evolved as well (i.e. aged) so the changes haven't bothered me so much as they might have if I hadn't changed. Twenty years ago when I was 53, I could walk into a bar and be pretty sure I could find someone to have sex with. Today I don't even bother trying since I am not physically attracted to someone my age today. If I could find a 50 YO today who was attracted to me that would be another matter! But then, it had to be a 30 YO.

I was never into drugs but saw up close how they affected people in the Gay Village. I never saw it to the same extent in Miami (and FT. Lauderdale) where I spent my winters at that time. But having a condo in the Village in Montreal, I saw it on a daily basis. I would see the syringes in the morning on the sidewalks and in the parks in the morning. In Miami, I didn't live in a gay area so didn't wake up to that reality on a daily basis.

I found the dancers at Campus were a little older on average than at Stock and maybe a little more mature in their habits. I knew most had girlfriends and were perhaps a little more grounded. They still let me blow them, which was fun. What they did with the money I gave them I didn't know for the most part although some would tell me in general terms what they did outside the clubs. A few I got to know better and it was a mixed bag. Some were sensible, others not.

I went into a convenience store today wearing my mask and the unmasked cashier gave me the "stink-eye". I never said anything to her or even looked at her funny. I can only conclude she hated that I was wearing a mask and wanted to indicate her disapproval. I do live in a heavily Republican area of Michigan, so I have been seeing plenty of "never-maskers" throughout the pandemic. Roughly five weeks ago, my county had the highest infection rate in the state and one of the highest in the country. No surprise since there are so many deniers and Kool-Aid drinkers in this area.

ConsumerLab.com is the website of an independent testing lab that analyzes dietary supplements of all kinds. They recently published a report indicating elevated levels of lead in psyllium-based fiber supplements, including the market-leading Metamucil.

The full report is behind a paywall so I can't link, but here is the summary:

"ConsumerLab.com's tests of the quality of psyllium products revealed that 5 out of 8 were contaminated with excessive amounts of lead — as much as 11 micrograms per 5 grams of psyllium husk (22 times the daily amount permitted in California without a warning label). Lead was found in all products, but those with the least contained only 0.4 to 0.6 mcg per 5 gram serving. One product had an unusually high amount of filth in the form of insect parts. However, all of the products contained their claimed amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber."

The brand with the lowest lead contamination in their testing was Yerba Prima (available at Amazon, Whole Foods, health food stores and online supplement retailers). Anyone using Metamucil or generic for occasional constipation may not need to worry about this. But if, like me, you take double the recommended dose every day, in part because of the hygiene concerns discussed on this thread, the presence of heavy metal contamination might be a big deal.

Yerba Prima makes a number of related products (including a flavored fiber combo). I use the unflavored, unsweetened, powdered husks in my morning fruit smoothie.

As far back as I can remember, I have been attracted to masculinity. That attribute is the first thing about a guy that attracts my attention....and the lack of a guy being masculine is a deal-breaker for me. If a guy is not uber masculine, nothing else really matters. He can be the most handsome, have the most ripped body, or have the most glorious cock but unless he is truly masculine, I will have zero interest.

I end up pretty consistently being attracted to straight or bi guys. It's very rare that in a hiring scenario I end up with a gay guy....and the lack of real masculinity is the reason why. I totally concur with the highlighted quote above. And like lonely_john, I consider it to be a fact.

While I will agree with you that it can be considered an outdated view, my comment came purely from empiric experience.
The vast majority of masculine guys I've met inside and outside of the bedroom identified as bisexual or straight. The gays, not so much.
What is considered masculine behaviour for me might be different from what other people think. In any case, I stand by my words.

I don't know folks ages on the form, but another thing to take into consideration is that Gen Z and Millennials are identifying as LGBTQ or are much more fluid in their sexuality than Gen X and prior. I live in an area 2.5+ hours from any major city. Population here is 45,000. College town, and the enrollment is around 13,000. I can't ever recall finding an escort on any site in the past 20 years in this area. I just turned 50.

The last four guys I have had an ongoing sexual relationship with for the past 10-15 years have all been straight, and in their late 20's and early 30's. The reason they seek me out are varied, but are generally multiples of the following:

The girlfriend/wife won't do oral sex
They have split from a girlfriend/wife and are frustrated with the relationship dynamic for male/female, but want some sex
They want to do anal sex, and their partner isn't into it
They work an opposite shift from their partner
They can be a bit more rough or do what they want, without an expectation of what the other person wants
The have kid(s) don't want more, and I'm not able to get pregnant
Since I'm 15-25 years older than them, they don't worry about me bragging to someone they may know about us having sex
They know I'm not looking to date them
It's a convenience - when they are horny, I'm not likely to tell them know, where a spouse/partner might/does

I'm sure there could be a couple of other reasons. But never any kissing, they don't give oral or receive anal, and they don't have to worry about making sure I get off. For one it is also a nice escape from his family. We drink a little from time to time, talk about life and baseball, and other things his now ex-gf would get mad at him for talking about, such as participating in tough-man/MMA competitions.

I have started getting some straight/bi college guys ask me about getting together, but I have generally stuck to my regular straight. The younger ones tend to flake about 40% of the time, and they seem a bit more socially awkward to me.

So for me the plus is I don't have to pay for the straight guys I see. When I want to hire (maybe once every 5 years or less) it is more for an experience such as kissing and more sexual contact than what I normally get from my couple of regulars.

To make a long story short, while it may be for the money for the straight escorts, it may also be about just getting to have sex without expectations that came with sex with someone from another gender.
