I pondered the same question for a while. Looked over the list of brands the FDA warned about too. I noticed that almost all of those on the list came from Mexico.
 
This is going to sound xenophobic but that is not my intention; simply going by the facts: find something manufactured in the USA or Canada. That is the safest bet at this time.

I really get ticked off when people refuse to wear a mask . I have no time for people like that.

I like the idea of a shield with a mask....but individually, I would prefer everyone wore a mask. If someone wants to add an extra layer of protection with a shield...better still.

I have no travel scheduled for this year. The thought of being on a plane in close quarters with 100 other people does not seem like a good idea to me. For the next 2-3 months I might take a few short driving trips around Michigan. Get on a plane right now? No way.

I wore a shield over my mask today when I went to Target. The last time I was there, a woman would not wear a mask. It feels safer, especially if you are near someone sneezing or coughing, but it did make breathing a bit harder.
We also have a loud, obnoxious guy with three dogs who comes to the dog park every morning but will not wear a mask. He usually keeps his distance, but the day he didn't I wanted my shield.

Many fine dining restaurants here in SoCal (before re-closing indoor dining) had wait staff wearing both mask and and shield, which was cumbersome but I appreciated. Shields add later of protection from mist from cough/sneezes to the wearer. Keeps droplets out of eyes, etc.

Lately here in Michigan, I've been seeing more and more people wearing only a transparent face shield rather than an actual face mask...including on restaurant workers. BTW, I'm seeing this more on women than on men.
 
My gut tells me that the face shield used on its own provides less protection than a face mask on its own. It seems to me that the germs can easily get around and under the open parts of the shield. Am I wrong about this? Can a face shield be used like a mask and provide the same protections for the average person?
 
ps: I know in the medical environment the shield is normally used together with a face mask.

Here is what the CDC has to say about face shields: “It is not known if face shields provide any benefit as source control to protect others from the spray of respiratory particles. CDC does not recommend use of face shields for normal everyday activities or as a substitute for cloth face coverings.”

I'm sorry to hear this but not really surprised. Operating a bar during this pandemic has to be very difficult. Kudos for making a tough decision.

I just completed my first three months on SA. I will not renew. For the most part, I found it a complete waste of time. Tons of messages from guys that were not even close to what I was looking for. My impression is that if you are into skinny/femboys you might do ok. If, like me, you seek uber masculine college jock or fratboy types, the pickings are pretty slim.

I think its too risky to contemplate hiring an escort anywhere right now. It's kind of like asking "is it risky to play russian roulette?" The answer to both questions is pretty obvious. No disrespect to the OP of course.

I've been on the Brazilian side only about 13 years ago. It was OK. Lot's of green algae on the rocks of the falls. There was water passing over the falls but not a whole lot of it. I was attending a conference in Iguazu so my visit was business-related. I felt like if I had travelled there specifically to see the falls, I would have been disappointed. I had heard that the Argentine side was better.

I agree with this. I had COVID and was out of commission for more than three weeks, and it was debilitating. Multiply that across the whole team, and then across a series of teams, and before you know it you don't have teams to play baseball if half of every team is out sick for weeks at a time. It sucks, but it's the situation at hand unfortunately.

I'm in the same boat as the original poster -- middle aged, but still very fit and horned up. I find the Super Big Gay cities like Barcelona and Sydney and Manhattan don't work all that well -- too much attitude, and there's always someone hotter just one click away on Grindr or Scruff. But I could hardly walk from so much hot sex after a few days in Morgantown, W. Virginia, or Denver, Colorado, or Eugene, Oregon (all on business), or overseas, e.g. Brisbane and Hobart in Australia. Some of these places (e.g. the last two!) are amazing places to visit as tourists, as well.
 
That is to say, the second (or third) tier cities have a lot of hot men with fewer opportunities who seem eager to take me into their arms (mouths, booties, etc.).
 
Note this was all true pre-Covid. I'm assuming this discussion is fantasizing about the post-covid world.

I predict all professional sports will fail to get very far ahead in their respective seasons for the rest of 2020 before having to shut down the whole thing. Some players/coaches/umpires/staff are bound to get infected and some will become sick. What if 3-4 teams get particularly hard hit and have to stop playing completely. Realistically, I don't see how even a reduced season can function all the way through to the end. I hope I'm wrong about that.

Sane folks think in a similar manner. I am with you 100%! I, too, "have not been intimate with anyone since January..." and will have to continue to think about the welfare of others as well as self.

A test result is meaningless to me unless he took the test in my presence and existed in an isolation bubble or my immediate space between test and session.
 
My test shouldnt give a provider absolute comfort. I could test Monday, come in contact, convert to carrier Tuesday, and receive negative report results Wed. I suppose one could find some comfort in the lowered likelihood indicated by a recent test.
 
For the record, I'm not hiring at present because my head's simply not in the right place to enjoy it. But fear of contracting Covid-19 is only a secondary factor in my rentguy-abstinence.
