I just got back from San Miguel De Allende and was in Playa Del Carmen last month: I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Don't let these things dissuade you from visiting places you've never been. Mexico is a stunningly beautiful country.

An Amazon-produced series that's well-written and perfectly cast.
I confused it with a costume dramedy for the first fifteen minutes, but then wow. Big changes without ever becoming a parody of itself. Highly recommended.

In today's political climate, no, you're not crazy for worrying. If I were a minority of any sort, I'd be looking over my shoulder a lot more these days.
I'd disclose and if someone gives you an ounce of pushback, move on. Some people are assholes and it's better you know who they are and ultimately not have to deal with them.

My advice...
Don't choose your trainer based on how he looks. Many, many of these guys use insane/dangerous shortcuts to get the IG bodies they have. What you really want is a healthy, functional, flexible body that will age well over time.
Talk with your potential trainer and if he's not concerned with your goals, he's not the guy you want with you in the gym.
