  1. Risk levels are obviously different here than they are in the US, different numbers of cases per million, different levels of adoption of non-pharmeceutical precautionary measures and different mandated isolation protocols for confirmed cases and close contacts. I have travelled twice in January, both times by air, with public transport to and from the airport. On both trips I was cautious but not overly worried. I would have chosen not to travel for Christmas, although that was a decision I ended up not having to take. What changed for me over those six weeks was not my perception of the level of risk, although that was lower when I took the last of the four flights than it had been for the first, but the level of clarity that public health authorities had on the nature of the Omicron surge. So, I'm happy to travel, and I'm off to Sydney tomorrow, although driving this time. Not sure I'm ready to travel to or in the US, but that's through the prism of my experience here and a distant view of the situation in the US. If I had spent the last two years there, I'd probably be ready to travel now. I had a casual contact alert from the NSW check-in app a few days after I returned to Canberra, but the exposure period was so short, and in such a small area of the shop that I doubt there was any actual chance of contact, much less infection. But still, I came down with something that may be related to the contact, maybe not. I misunderstood the guidelines for publicly available testing, and RATs couldn't be found for love nor money so wasn't tested. I isolated for seven days anyway, the time that would have been mandated if I'd tested positive, and whatever it was cleared up. (I became eligible for my third shot during the seven days.)
  2. Yes, I was aware of that. I should have been clearer, I regularly [but not necessarily frequently] see new threads that include a link to an older closed thread that is relevant to the new discussion being started. That tends to be done only by experienced members of the forum who remembered the old thread, and [importantly] knew how to find it. They will likely continue to do that. That's why I said it would be useful but marginally so.
  3. @RadioRobis the purpose of this to alert the creator of a thread to another related thread or does it continue on and include links to those threads in the new thread that is being created. If the latter can you override its selections so only threads you think are relevant are displayed? (Although your last bullet point tends to suggest this capability is only a reference for you to see while you are creating the thread.) It's not clear whether the 'last year' relates to when the tread was created or to when it had last had a post added. I would be inclined to have it set to include any active threads, so any that have had a new post in the last two years (IIRC). I can see some value in displaying older threads, but not all that much. Whatever the details of how this works, it's a great idea.
  4. On my list for a while but I've long accepted it ain't gonna happen.

    Oh Deer!

    You're completely hartless.
  6. I too have had a meeting with a Hungarian (in Vegas no less) and the experience was a delight, and one that I would repeat in a heartbeat.
  7. I had seen that reported on the ABC News Channel this morning, although they were careful to say it was hearsay reporting. I was thinking of posting about it here when the thread came up in my feed, but you had already done so. The three year ban is automatic but the minister has discretion to waive it. I can't imagine that even this minister would not do so, and if it's a Labor minister it's almost certain that they would.
  8. If I'm not mistaken several forum members will be taking the short flight to Palm Springs in a couple of months.
  9. To be specific, I live in Australia and use the rent.men address to access the site (I have also entered via rentmen.eu) and that information (specifically text comments in RM reviews) is visible to me via both those URLs. Rates are visible for escorts who are not in the US, but not for US escorts. I have assumed that rate information is not allowed for them rather than hidden from US readers of the ads. (When I have been in the US, rates for non-US escorts, visible here, were not displayed.)
  10. I'm not sure that is part of the problem. I use the rent.men version of site from outside the US and see the information that is hidden in the US.
  11. EWR perhaps? Emirates probably have availability from airports other than Newark. If you have enough points, your airline's award site would be the place to start. Whichever airline that is, seats on Emirates may be available from them (I don't know which US carriers that is true for), but they all offer seats on their partners' flights as well as their own. If you have transferable points in a credit card account then you can look for deals on a range of airline programs (including non-US carriers). If you're looking to pay money for your tickets, start checking on the travel aggregator sites or a site like Amex travel for the dates you're interested in. Discounted fares pop up in all classes frequently, and you'll recognise a good deal after watching the market for a couple of weeks.
  12. Not something I could have posted in here. Not that I would have thought of doing so anyway.
  13. I've done an Antarctic cruise, expensive but worth every cent, in 2003. It was on a small ship, 57 pax, for 14 days. The entire time from shortly before first sight of land smelt of penguin poo.
  14. They are different, obviously, and if you were interested both would be worth taking. The Baltic Sea cruise suggestion wasn't directed at @Benjamin_Nicholas's comment but at a poster who was not interested in a tropical getaway and said he'd prefer a North Sea cruise. The Baltic Sea suggestion was more, 'If you must take a cold climate cruise, the North Sea is probably a bad idea, try this.' I would suggest going to the Antarctic Peninsula or the high Arctic, but that's just me.
  15. It's in a great time zone to watch live but winter sports don't excite me, so I may watch some.
  16. I think some of the reactions to them have been as over the top as they were, but that said I see the crowd behaviour as being that of a typical tennis crowd, just not one at normal tournament play. It was very much what you might see from a Davis Cup home crowd. As you noted in your most recent post it's a throwback to a former era, but with Dylan Alcott [sadly losing] on Rod Laver Arena a harbinger of a new one when wheelchair tennis can receive top billing, and a big crowd. And lots of eager 'wheelie kids' in the crowd.
  17. Imagine! A resort that's been reimagined!! I don't imagine I'll be there any time soon, but who knows, or can imagine?
  18. In the absence of cricket from our TV screens (the national short form competition is in the finals stage and there is a gap in the schedule, and the international series between the Australian and England Women's teams is in a break between fixtures) I fitted in some serious tennis time yesterday. Two men's five setters, the Barty Party rolling on and for lighter relief a men's doubles match. Rafa went the distance against Denis Shapovalov, but coverage on the TV was interrupted at times when it dropped to be the third choice of the broadcaster which was only using two of its channels to cover the tennis. Great game but I wasn't glued to the set as I expected Rafa to win, and he duly did, although not as easily as I had expected. Also not expected (at least by me) was the way Ash Barty blew Jessica Pagula out of the water. Will she face any serious opposition and if she does will she be ready for a tough match. I have to think that she will be ready and boy will it be awesome to watch. Now on to a semi with surprise opponent Madison Keys. The main cause of the interruption to coverage of Nadal/Shapovalov was the Kyrgios and Kokkinakis doubles match which was thoroughly entertaining and a bit of a roller coaster ride, although not as much a roller coaster as was to come in the main evening match. The Special Ks won against Puetz and Venus in three sets and were suitably enthusiastic in their celebrations. The unexpected highlight of the day was the evening match, which started at 9pm our time (2am PST/5am EST) and prevented me from going to bed until 1am (you do the maths). More than once I had decided that the match was done only to have yet another twist. The contrast between the third and fourth sets when Berrettini could get nothing right and Monfils nothing wrong, and the fifth where Berrettini steam-rolled his opponent was epic to watch. I make no comment on his cuteness or otherwise. Two moments of grace from the last couple of days. In the doubles match Kyrgios hit a ball into the crowd and directly hit a young boy. Kyrgios grabbed a racquet from his bag, walked over and handed it to the lad. Cue TV interviews of a beaming little boy and his mother.Earler, after her match against Simone Halep, French player Alizé Cornet was interviewed on court for Channel 9 by Jelena Dokic. As Dokic wound up the interview, Cornet asked to say something and proceeded to offer an emotional tribute to Dokic' career (they had almost played in the 2009 AO). https://www.sportingnews.com/au/tennis/news/alize-cornet-shares-emotional-moment-with-jelena-dokic-following-australian-open-upset/nh00iqcuibov1n9subpr6e1ej
  19. To clarify, and this is something the those replying above are well aware of, there is not 'a website' that lets you access the comments. You have to navigate to the regular RM website via an IP address that is outside the US, in most of the examples cited above NL or DE, typically a proxy server or VPN. Alternatively you could move to another country and the comments would be visible when you log on normally (I suspect this was not a particularly useful suggestion, but it would work!).
  20. I've only met Matt socially at Palm Springs weekends, but I'm not surprised.
