I went to the glow worm caves on an earlier trip to Aotearoa, it was a family bus tour so we went where were taken. It was interesting and sort of cute, a worthwhile talking point after visiting, but not a 'don't miss' attraction. As azdr said, the Ohakune vegetable statue park is a cute must-photo attraction if you're there, but I wouldn't make a special trip to Ohakune to see it. Stop there if driving through, but not a dedicated trip. There are good consolation walking tracks at the park headquarters at the southern end of the Tongariro track if the weather stops you taking the longer walk (or like me you had no intention of taking it). It's a couple of hours north of Wellington. Christchurch is worth a visit as is the rail trip through the Southern Alps to Greymouth but you can't go everywhere. February is summer (so you'll be too early for snow-boarding in Queenstown) but it can be quite cool anywhere (and it's not called windy Wellington without reason) so pack a wind/shower proof jacket.

Children are living, breathing recording/playback units.  They are constantly looking, listening and remembering what's happening around them, and what they are seeing and hearing today is what is the matter with them.
What's the matter with kids today is US the adult population collectively.

    OK, I'll go.
The most flamboyant homophobe on campus lived in my house.  I would have enjoyed those college years more if he had kept his homophobic agenda to himself.
    I was not out.
I had nice friends in the house and grew close to a particular housemate.  There were some strong feelings and we shared some playfulness and groping in the dark.  But the stigma of homophobia impacted our relationship.
Since nothing was ever seriously spoken about the affection we felt, the relationship wasn't easy for me to understand.
At the end I kept my distance and he flippantly asked if we were getting a divorce.
After college he wanted to try again.  By then he had dated several women.  At that point I didn't want to play.
Both of these guys ultimately married women.
The flamboyant homophobe convinced some woman to marry him against her better judgment.  He is gay as a picnic basket, as some are apt to say.  The homophobe and wife have no children.  He finally came out. They are basically roommates now.
My close friend married twice and has children.  I would guess he is bisexual but closer to the "straight" end of the spectrum.  The closet prevents having honest conversations to clarify those things, right?
Both of these fellows have been in touch with me in recent years when our house was planning a reunion.
I decided not to go for various reasons.
I will always think of the flamboyant homophobe as somewhat of a jerk.  He now claims he was always an ally before springing out from his closet.  So he is still in denial about that piece.
I admit I could have been a much better friend than I was to this special guy I knew during college. Being closeted was no fun.  I wish I had been better equipped to deal with that situation and will always be sorry for hurting him.

Primary care physician here. I practice Medicine in a primary care clinic on the east coast & see these issues daily.
    Some comments.
First, my love & support to all who struggle with obesity.  It's a terrible disease with significant & harmful consequences.  And losing weight is challenging.  And as we age, it only gets more challenging.
I am, of course,  getting oh-so-many-requests for Ozempic from non-diabetic patients who desire it for weight loss. Daily requests. On Ozempic I've had a handful of patients really drop the weight, like 20-30 lbs. Its impressive.  And I've also had some not lose weight on Ozempic.
And I'm also very much aware of my diabetic patients who have been prescribed Ozempic for diabetes.  This medication has really helped improve their glycemic control & reduced their risk of serious complications of uncontrolled diabetes. Its awesome.  Unfortunately,  since the Ozempic for weight loss craze started,   some of my diabetics struggle to get a prescription filled because the pharmacy is out, all the Ozempic went to weight loss.  And their health suffers. It's very disappointing.
There are pros & cons to using these Ozempic products for weight loss, as outlined by several posters here which I wont repeat. But I highlighted Benjamin's note for the strength of its insight.  Weight loss drugs are doomed to fail if the patient does not change their lifestyle. And to be honest,  many (not all) of the patients requesting an Ozempic prescription from me have no cogent plan or strategy in specifically HOW they will change their diet & behavior.   They just demand their Ozempic NOW. I ask about their plans.  I listen & wait,  but the answers typically are somewhat weak & poorly formed,  tbh.
I am fearful some, not all, on this website who want their own prescription of Ozempic may fall in the same category.  The fear is many who lose weight on Ozempic will only regain it back unless they really change their behavior.   History will repeat itself.
With this in mind, some of my physician colleagues,  including myself,  have followed bariatric surgeons path. Bariatric surgeons demand prior to surgery that the patient lose a bit of weight and THEN they are offered bariatric surgery.  My colleagues and I are doing similar: we inform potential Ozempic patients they must lose 5-10% of their weight THEN we will prescribe Ozempic.  Simply put: whether I like it or not, I'm a gatekeeper of this "magical" drug. Therefore,  I must keep many factors in the forefront of my mind: will this prescription take away an imperative drug from a patient who needs it for diabetes?   What is the risk the patient will eventually regain the weight? Is this patient demonstrating clear evidence that changed behavior is present now, and likely will continue once the  Ozempic course has ended?
This weight loss drug will cost thousands of dollars for several months for a course and prudence & honesty demand of me that my professional prescribing behavior be judicious and fair. It's a work in progress.
Ozempic is a complicated drug, isnt it?
Obesity is a touchy & for some, a painful topic, especially in the judgemental Gay community where the Body-Beautiful pressure is ever-present.  So to those who struggle, fight on. My love & support goes out to you.
    Hugs & kisses,
    Josh

Don’t waste your wishes on telling clients how you feel, you can do that any time.
But wishing that they agree with you doesn’t seem very likely.

I have a live tree this year, a teeny tiny pine in a pot.  It's cute as a button but since it's not big enough to give off that wonderful pine scent, I bought scented candles to make up for it.  Candlemakers have really upped their game 'cuz I swear the candles smell like a real tree.

Today he sent me a photo of his Christmas grocery shopping (we'd been discussing supermarket bonus points of all things) and then of the ham, and pork roast in his fridge. Totally normal, lol. Then every so often one of him lifting weights or a dick pic.
