In 1984 my partner and I bought a new Toyota Corolla to replace our old one. In 1985, we happened to get an unexpected financial windfall. I wanted to put the money into a retirement account. He said, "No, I want to buy a Mercedes." I asked why, since we had just bought a new car. He said, "I would like to own a really nice car for once in my life." So I gave in, and for the next 23 years we owned only Mercedes sedans, which were a pleasure to drive. When the last one was twelve years old and had 113 thousand miles on it, we decided to get something more practical, so we bought a Toyota Prius. I hated driving it. When we were ready for our next car, we went back to the Mercedes dealer, and bought an SUV. After six years, I was sick of the expense of the constant services and gas guzzling. A year ago, we traded it for a relative cheap Nissan SUV (in fact, it cost more than our first Mercedes). I have no regrets, because to my surprise, I think it handles much better than the Mercedes, and it gets much better gas mileage. And besides, the Mercedes didn't make our cocks any bigger.

With his ad taken down so soon after your meet, it seems likely the provider had already decided to leave "the business," for reasons unknown to us, and having nothing to do with you. He might simply have not wanted to keep the appointment but didn't have the kishkes to flat-out cancel. That doesn't justify behavior, of course, but might be of some comfort that you simply engaged the wrong escort at the wrong time, and your interaction was collateral damage to his life choices in the moment. Chalk yet another one up to experience.

There is no easy road to success in any profession.  It’s all about hard work, dedication, adapting to change, a positive mindset - and being able to overcome challenges without getting stuck in why it can’t happen. 
The simplest way to be successful is to identify the people who are successful and do what they do.  And if those same successful people are offering specific ideas, advise & help on how to do it - even better & an invaluable resource.
In my professional life, I had to coach lots of people on how to do better in a super competitive work environment.  It was a 50/50 chance that the employees could survive, “get it” and eventually thrive in their work.  The ones who failed could not take direction & were always making excuses about why something couldn’t happen or that they had unique circumstances - they got stuck in a negative mindset.
I think being a successful provider is difficult because it requires an extensive sexual repertoire & being very good at all those things to appeal to broad range of client interest.  In addition, they need to excel in the business end (advertising, screening, booking, & analysis) which requires a completely different skill set.  
How many providers can do all those things & do them well ?  
A very few who are the real pros.

Australia has a healthy and growing export trade in goat meat to the subcontinent and the Middle East. Most of the goats are raised in marginal range land and mustered every so often for the trade (although some are used specifically to tackle woody weed infestations, even in city reserves, which they can clean up quite nicely). This week the butcher's shop in my local shopping centre had goat meat 'for curries' at $18.99/kg which is comparable to similar cuts of [halal] lamb that I have been buying. (The halal part isn't significant to me, but the shops tend not to stock that sort of cut in their regular lines, sticking to roasts and chops.)
