I don't have a particular thought to add to the $500 price point per se other than my upper reach for one hour is $350. I just simply can't spend more even if the provider is fantastic. The funds don't exist for more. But I would like to briefly address this idea that threads and discussions on pricing are tiresome and should be limited, etc. 

I don't think they are tiresome. In fact, they are 100% core to why this website even exists. The exchange of $$$ is completely what this is all about. Almost all discussion would be rendered moot if you take money off the table. This site is not about no-money-exchange Grindr hookups. So the fact that some members of the forum would like to get a better lay of the land regarding what others pay for an hour in various places and situations is a very natural discussion point to me.

The landscape has changed A WHOLE LOT in just the past two years in regards to pricing. And I just got back on the forum recently. So personally, I find such discussions helpful. What I don't find helpful is people weighing in with sighs and arghs and "here we go again" and such. If topics about pricing ain't your cup of tea, just go get a different drink. No one is forcing you to participate. There are other posts on here. Why should those of us who want to explore price ceilings and affordability feel stifled into silence because you're personally not interested in this topic?

Given the rapid changes in the economy, I find posts about rates helpful in evaluating my hiring expectations and decisions.

See, no offense to @Muscleaddict333 but these guys do zero for me. They're entirely too muscular for my taste. They could be paying me $500 and I'd be like "meh..."

Back on this topic again (and again) i see.....this convo has same vibe with coffee expenses, coffee cart or starbucks...each to their own. Cant understand why y'all being so judgey on how one spend their monies.....

I have been with a few who were well reviewed. I only found out a couple of them were porn stars after I had hired them. So far I have had good experiences. I think it is fun to watch their porn later. 

I think the reason most people get worked up about rates being ‘over priced’ or ‘not good value’ is because they can’t afford them. The rate someone charges is entirely up to them. You can choose to pay it or not, that’s entirely up to you. If there’s a market it will happen. 

Inflation is high, in general, but not as high as many providers have made their rates -
Think about the current inflation rate for ordinary goods and services- roughly 8%
Think about the current provider inflation rate- (using rentmen as a guide) 25% to 50%.
It is ridiculous.   

I have given bad reviews only to see them disappear or be threatened by escort. 
Kinda ridiculous. I reach out to the clients now to make sure escort was good and being a good match. 

I would have closed the loop in a single interaction.   Say “sorry, that’s not in my budget,” thank him for his time and move on.

your explanation for passing him up was to-the-point, reasonable, and honest......a professional provider (one who, ohhhh, is charging 1K/hr) wouldn't have replied as he did to that explanation......

I submitted a one star review that was accepted and published by RM. But sometime later the review was simply deleted without any notification to me. 

I also read the comments and profiles. Those are helpful insights, but almost always from positive reviews. When negative reviews are simply deleted, there is no review to read associated comments. That's the problem instead of leaving the negative review posted and allowing the provider to provide a response if so desired. 

The "map me" version on old RM was often worthless, because it was often just a default to someplace like city hall. I even saw one ad that showed the provider in a rural area was next to the nearest police station.

I posted 2 negative reviews, one of them was about this guy, certainly my worst hire ever... after it was deleted I decided to close my account.

That’s not paranoia; that’s hella good common sense, not colour blind viz the 2+ flags waved in front of you. Spidey sense alone a few slices in the Swiss cheese prophylaxis stack. 

@rustyrex I am glad you came away unhurt.  When things go off the rails, I do whatever I can to extricate myself. Pay the provider the agreed fee, walk away. I may even pay more since I usually carry a little extra for tip. Put a post-it on your bathroom mirror for the following week with this message: I will not allow little Rusty to rule the roost! 😉

Your own safety is of paramount importance.  Getting distance between you and him is a priority preferably to a public place with others around.  
While I believe you were in fear at the time, you should not be cowed into silence now.  Perhaps starting a thread with just a warning that this man is worth avoiding. 
Hopefully, you kept important information, such as your name and address, private.  
Stay safe in the future.  Inform someone where you are going to be and with whom you are going to be.  
I am about to write a phrase I never expected to write, but I agree with Bozo.  The information here is helpful only with the details.  

If you aren't going to mention the name of the provider, what is the purpose of the post? How to handle a similar situation? You didn't provide enough details for someone to provide you with an intelligent answer.
If you are concerned enough about what happened to you to create a new topic, then you should be equally as vigilant in giving us the provider's name so no one else has to experience this "dangerous encounter". Otherwise, this thread is totally useless.

I'm very sorry this happened to you.  It must have been very scary.  I'm glad you came out ok.  But please consider letting us know who he is so none of us meet him.

yes, RM is the best of a sad lot.....the other three you mention plus friendboy.pro are the rest of the lot......
it appears many well-known guys are going the OF et al route and making good money.....if they can work hard and catch a following, why bother trying to deal with flaky clients and endless texts when you can just fire up your laptop at home and watch the credits roll in?!
I don't really do the social media thing, but some here have luck directly contacting likely guys who appear to be amenable and politely/professionally proposing a meeting.....
this forum is really the best way to cull through the options, see what others report, ask questions........
and, of course, there are those very few ultra high-end providers who only work by word-of-mouth between trusted and discreet clients or who have a list of regulars plenty long enough........they don't need to advertise!

I'm not having any problems logging in to the three versions today: app.rent.men, rentmen.eu, and rent.men. I don't know where you are finding 5-10 versions. I am using Safari on a MacBook.
I have been using app.rent.men (V7 Beta) for several months now. It takes getting used to and finding where things have moved to. It has also had a few glitches and some of those have been fixed and other things improved over the past few months. That is to be expected for a Beta release. I like it better now for the larger photos.

I believe there are three site versions, not 5-10.....rent.men, rentmen.eu, app.rent.men
RM staff has told me the rent.men version is the best to use for all the features.......
I don't have to always log in (auto-save or something), but it's just as easy as any other internet website when I do.......

Are you referring to their new site app.rent.men? If so, it is a beta version of the new site, which ostensibly will launch in two days. Beta versions typically have bugs and this is no exception. You can still use rent.men until the new site launches.
