In the first image below, JOHN GRIMEK (1910-1998) is the 25-year-old cover model for the French magazine, La Culture Physique in February 1935. In the second picture, he's a 55-year-old on the cover of the June 1965 issue of Strength & Health. Born in New Jersey, GRIMEK represented the U.S. in weightlifting at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was Mr. America in 1940 and 1941, and Mr. Universe in 1948. GRIMEK lived in York, Pennsylvania for many years and is depicted as part of a mural located at 37 West Philadelphia Street in York.
