GEORGE DYER, lover and muse of the painter FRANCIS BACON, seen here circa 1964 (the year after he met Bacon) in the painter's Reece Mews Studio. Photographs by JOHN DEAKIN. In October 1971, two days before the opening of a career-making exhibition of Bacon's work at the Grand Palais in Paris, Dyer died by suicide at 37.
