From the National Archives, these photographs from April 1918 document a World War I aviation recruit being examined at the Episcopal Hospital in Washington, D.C. The photographer is unknown, but the symbol at lower left of the next image indicates that he was part of the Army Signal Corps.

Ray York (1933-2020), age 20 in this picture, is fresh out of the shower after winning the 1954 Kentucky Derby. Fellow jockey Eddie Arcaro (1916-1997), who won the Derby five times previously and came in 4th in the '54 race, helps to dry Ray's hair.
