A new ostensibly four-part PBS series, Flesh and Blood, started last night. Among its main characters is one of our favorite stud muffins, Russell Tovey. The series also stars the wonderful Imelda Staunton (who will be playing Queen Elizabeth in the 5th season of The Crown), Francesca Annis, and the great Stephen Rea. Basically the series is a murder mystery in which a widowed mother of a family, Vivien (Annis), after being widowed for only a year and a half, meets a retired physician (Rea). She invites her adult children, Helen, the elder daughter, Jake (Tovey, who works as a "private trainer" and straight - sorry - escort), and Natalie, the younger daughter, to her house for dinner in order to meet Rea. All the kids have different reactions to a meeting. Staunton plays Vivien's next door neighbor of many years, Mary. She seems jealous of Vivien's new life and spies on the family.

Spoiler Alert: If you want a more in-depth recap of Episode One check the above link out. It tells you all about the characters, their relationships they have with each other, and any problems they may be having.
To me it looked like it was filmed on the same coast as Broadchurch. That brought back wistful memories of the performances of the wonderful Olivia Colman and David Tennant.
