    The Report

Has anyone seen The Report ? I have not seen it and I think it is being shown by Amazon. It has a fairly star-studded cast (Jon Hamm, I see you) and I, like others, must remember when the country was going through the subject of the film. It does show a government that is willing to do anything and say anything to get away with what it believes will accomplish the goals it has set for itself. Here is an article which describes a report that Feinstein's committee releases detailing the "enhanced interrogation" (torture) and the fact that it generally failed to produce any worthwhile information. https://www.sfgate.com/nation/article/Feinstein-report-CIA-misled-Bush-public-about-5945109.php Directly below is a short blurb from The New Yorker describing the film. Adam Driver, looking paler and more intense than ever, plays Dan Jones, an investigator who is asked by Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening), of the Senate Intelligence Committee, to work on a study of the C.I.A.’s Detention and Interrogation Program. The project consumes years, eats away at private lives, and, upon completion, is met with stubborn resistance from officials who disagree with its findings and demand that it be censored accordingly. (The full document has never been released.) The film, written and directed by Scott Z. Burns, takes its cue from the stern dedication of its hero; the result feels pressurized, disheartening, and fraught. Flashbacks to the torture described in the report are at once grisly to behold and, unlike the ill-lit bleakness of the office scenes, oddly superfluous to the movie’s cause. The cast includes Tim Blake Nelson as a frightened whistle-blower and a formidable Ted Levine as John Brennan. — Anthony Lane
  2. I does say he is "bisexual". I guess you are supposed to be too. Or at least wanting to watch him be his bisexual self.
  3. Besides sandwiches, the only thing I really use it with are the salads; egg, potato, broccoli. I especially like broccoli as a side salad because people seldom have it and so it is just not the same thing again. Plus it has raisins to sweeten it. And nuts if you like.
  4. I am sorry to hear that. I had not been able to watch any of the seasons. A while ago I had heard the first two seasons universally acclaimed which definitely made me anxious to watch the third one.
  5. Two-fer. Thanks WilliamM but I have to vote for out.
  6. Isn't there such beauty in the different contours?
  7. I believe there is a snippet about Dunkirk if you ever get a chance to see the movie Atonement. Obviously the movie is about a lot more than the movie scene but the incredible thing about the movie scene is that it is done in one shot. Always an terrifically hard thing to do.
  8. For general body soap I really like and use Pears soap (the original transparent soap). They have an oil cleaning bar that has a smell that I do not particularly like. The original does not.
  9. Very true. However Lazlo has been around since the late 20s, early 30s so they are doing something right.
  10. Who are the dynamic duo, if you know?
  11. Money, money, money Must be funny In the rich man's world Money, money, money Always sunny In the rich man's world A-ha, ah All the things I could do If I had a little money It's a rich man's world
  12. It's funny I do not find a man undressing to be sexy at all (although I am gay). Generally I find the act to be clumsy and uncoordinated. I find women on the other hand (though I certainly don't want to fuck them) to be a lot sexier when they disrobe.
  13. Maybe an engorged cock made him fall. No more Vs for D.
  14. I like the Erno Laszlo program but it is expensive. On the other hand, my sister, who you would have to squeeze a penny out of her hand, has been using it for over 35 years. I keep to the basic program because like every company it would like you to buy everything they have to offer. However, it really helps my face out.
  15. Oh, to have all the money in the world.
  16. I can only think of one "service" he can be associated with.
  17. You know me as well as (or better than I know myself).
  18. Two-fer. Thanks, WilliamM. Definitely looks like Adam and his apple.
  19. I was wondering if anyone else has been watching the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher. It features as Eve Fletcher, a single mom whose son, Brendan (Jackson White), is headed off to college, leaving her alone for the first time in two decades. She is disatisfied with her job running an assisted living facility and decides to fill the new void in her life by signing up for a class at the local community college coupled with exploring her sexual desires through online porn. All the while, her son faces the world of college where he is no longer the popular kid and realizes that he lacks some of the interests and characteristics that make his classmates fun to be around. So, simply put, mom is having a mid-life crisis while her son is having a quarter-life crisis. Both are handled eloquently (and when appropriate, not so eloquently) but at the same time very realistically. I have liked it so far and as Jackson White is pretty good looking with a nice body (which he shows off fairly regularly) makes watching the series even more enticing. There is also a trans character which is fairly intriguing. I believe it is a limited series. I also find it compelling that all the episodes are directed by women. https://variety.com/2019/tv/reviews/mrs-fletcher-review-hbo-kathryn-hahn-tiff-1203330875/ https://www.joblo.com/movie-news/tv-review-mrs-fletcher
