You've gotten great advice above. As a first time hire I wouldn't hire anyone
that doesn't have good reviews here or at least 2-3 well known forum members
recommending them. There's plenty of time for crappy hires and mistakes
later...make sure your first one is fun.
 
It's always helpful when you give examples of guys you're interested in....that way
even if we don't know anything about those specific men we might be able to recommend
someone "close" to that person's look / style.

I've never understood this one. Isn't it insulting to a whole gender to imply they're not smart enough to check the toilet seat before using it? Living alone for most of my adult life, and when not almost always with other males, I've just left the seat the way I've used it. And clean, because my aim is terrible. There's a reason a rifle is more accurate than a handgun.

Be careful with the Pope. I rented my beach condo to a rep from The Wholly Sea (like an AirBnB for beach properties) last December and they trashed the place. The guy said it was just going to be a man, woman and baby and maybe their donkey (which I nixed because of our no pet policy) with that 3 other guys might drop by.
13 guys showed up! Food everywhere, all the sinks, toilets and bathtubs were filled with wine, there were dead fish all over the pool deck and some kind of reddish stains by all the doors.
The only good part is that I had an old 36" flat screen TV that was dead that suddenly started working again.

I was very young and very new to hiring.
