  1. there's a semi behind him. if you didn't notice it
  2. Derek. The car's full, but no problem, looks like I can strap you to the roof. I'll drive home slow. Yes, you can stay the night.
  3. Is it unusual that my City has better water quality from the tap, than the bottled water? Carbonated water I do buy.
  4. The Canadian First Ministers meeting, scheduled to start tomorrow, has been canceled. Trudeau and his wife are self-isolating because Sophie Gregoire has tested positive for COVID 19. https://ipolitics.ca/2020/03/12/first-ministers-meeting-postponed-trudeau-in-self-isolation-while-wife-sophie-awaits-covid-19-test-results/
  5. It's because of falling oil prices. Harper's Conservative government turned us into a petro state depending on oil/gas exports. It's still causing problems.
  6. First time I read that I thought you said you bought three rolls. Self-rationing … lol
  7. Okay. Steps announced today by Canadian government to slow the infection rate. $1 billion of new federal funding of which: $200 million for medical supplies, $275 million for research including (but not exclusively) for vaccines, and $'s to support the provincial medical systems, and $'s to support international efforts of the WHO. Also to encourage self-quarantine the one-week waiting period for unemployment insurance will be waived. Discussions are starting to happen in the media about how to handle the border with the USA.
  8. Canada, which has a public health care 'system,' has taken the tact of testing as many people as possible. Both to determine the extent of the spread of the infection and also to be able to identify individuals affected. Then action can be taken to contain the virus spread, self-quarantine, testing people that the infected person has been in contact with, determining where the possible source of the infection. Anyone showing up to hospital with flu symptoms, across the country, is tested. It's all covered under that national public health insurance program (no wasted time on determining coverage through a myriad differing private insurance companies). I don't know if you consider that 'surveillance state' - but it's organized, thought through, and so far seems to be effective. One death reported so far, a man in his 80's with numerous underlying conditions beyond COVID19. One community contact. All the rest, so far, are from overseas travel.
  9. If you do, PM me …. lol
  10. COVID19 or not, I'd still ask to shake his hand(s)
  11. A most excellent way to hide that ugly sofa.
  12. That would probably qualify as 'targeted marketing' rather than as a general public health message
  13. I know this is totally off topic, but that goal at the 1:45 min mark on the video - spectacular. I wonder what is 100M time is?
  14. Really? Okay, thanks for that information. But it prompts another, equally obvious question, why the gosh darn not? An Uber/Lyft from the airport is a waste of $20+ bucks for a fairly short ride. I know its nothing in the scheme of things, but still.
  15. I hope that people realize that, for the general public, the point of wearing the mask is so that you don't spread the virus to someone else. They don't protect you from getting the virus. Same ethos as getting a vaccination. You primarily do it for other people, to build up the herd immunity, not for yourself.
  16. This from John Hopkins. An animated map of the spread of the virus. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/map-watch-how-covid-19-traveled-the-world
  17. This is probably an obvious question. Do all the hotels/casino on The Strip have airport shuttles?
  18. The screening procedures are pretty extensive and there is a lot of testing going on to prevent the spread of the virus. As I said in another thread, anyone showing up at any hospital with flu symptoms is automatically tested for COVID 19. Public health response is pretty effective and seamless in Canada (a lot was learnt and applied following the SARS outbreak about 20 years ago … numerous deaths in Toronto). I doubt that there will be closures. Current situation 54 cases as of today, all connected to international travel, no community transmissions yet. One person in critical condition. Maybe the dancers will incorporate 20 seconds of hand washing with soap, into their shower shows.
  19. Are there any flavors, other than plain, of cottage cheese that would work?
