No one has mentioned it yet, and there are good reasons: it is a serious digression on the thread, and of course there is fear of retaliation from the age-police.

So I'll mention it, as society will have to deal with it at some point: In Japan they already make the female versions looking younger and younger. I 've seen some pictures that are clearly designed to look like early teenagers. A few also that look like manga girl characters, not humans. That is Japan for you.

What will the American society do when they make dolls looking that young here, and openly sell them online to, presumably, pedophiles? Or import them from Japan?

I predict 2 reactions (expected to be heard at the same time of course):

1. "They need to be made illegal, it encourages pedophiles, it gives them a taste of it and then they will want more!"

2. "It is an outlet for pedophiles that harms absolutely nobody, and it is a million times better than letting pedophiles grow their sexual frustration and, one day, relent to it on a real child."

To be clear, I am not interested in buying a child doll. I am not interested in anything that isn't a young MAN.

I know some people here will call me a pedophile for even mentioning it. But I happen to be interested in very different cultures, and when you are, you hear some very, very quirky aspects of these cultures. And this one is coming over. America will be debating it soon.

You make some good points.

Also consider on escort message boards, there are current threads where guys are repeatedly being referred to as 'boys'

There's something a little off about that to me.

C'mon.

Isn't an usual coloquial English expression to talk about "my boys" meaning your friends, even when you are not children anymore? I have seen thousands of ads where guys in their 40s and 50s would refer to themselves as boys.

Do not be a bad boy, please.

But this isn't the street corner with our friends: It's a hobby-specific, escort-based message board. The situation makes it very different.

Especially so, considering management is trying to keep things low key with the political climate what it is.

Still, the language is the same that in a broader context. One thing is to be careful, another one to be over paranoid.

Okay, so let's imagine that this doll craze becomes the next big thing. I mean like the providers won't be able to keep up with demand. Think Cabbage Patch Dolls of several years ago. And then suddenly after a year or two, no one wants one. People grow tired of the same old thing, day in and day out. So now what do we do? We have an inflatable sex toy which is probably not bio-degradable gathering dust in the closet. Assuming that we who are single and want to drive in the car-pooling lanes don't want to strap our former love-toy into the passenger seat as we hurtle up Route 84, maybe put some sort of cute hat on him, etc. Do we just pitch him to the curb (seems heartless) and let the city trash collectors take him away? Since it probably won't be bio-degradable, do we have to take him to a special dumpsite like with electronics that we no longer use? Or do we organize some sort of really kick-ass yard sale for someone else to take him away (only slightly used?) for the long, cold winter nights that will be here before we know it?
