But in general I'd say no escort is.

Let me add that the reason I say this is mostly due to accountability issues. But it's an accountability issue on both sides. If there was a ? way to insure escorts lived up to their ads, and a ? sure way to sure all clients were decent guys, then maybe deposits would make more sense. But as things stand, deposits don't.

I agree. I’ve never paid a deposit. I was curious though about the practice, so I messaged him and mentioned that many would be concerned about a scam. His response was very professional and he said that he’s getting lots of business. Of course, anyone can say that (and a good scammer would), and he doesn’t know what business he’s lost.

I agree with you.

I did make an exception and gave a guy a $25 deposit. We had talked several times and it did not seem risky. Turned out we really clicked and I hire him quite regularly.

I had a hot young man for an overnight this past week and he asked for a $100 deposit. Given how responsive he was and the fact that I was staying in a somewhat remote area at the time, I felt it was reasonable. He took a Bolt (very cheap) and a bus and a ferry and arrived exactly on time. The few times I’ve acquiesced, it’s always turned out well. As for the provider in question, absolutely not. Not only is he not my type, but for a shorter meet he doesn’t pass my scam test.

Deposits aren’t uncommon and the client is usually the initiator. I think asking someone for a deposit for a brief meeting is ambitious, or a scam. The only time deposits should be discussed is when things like a booking for a weekend away are being negotiated between a client and a provider.

True enough. I agree a deposit or some payment before meeting may be in order if you're looking for longer than a couple of hours. In the one case I had a provider come to me I offered to and sent money for air fare; things worked out fine. I like to think if you're comfortable enough meeting someone for an extended period of time, you've done some research and have had enough communication so that sending money ahead of time would be a reasonable expectation.

If he is "getting a lot of business" and has no problem getting prospective clients to send him a deposit, why is it he has no reviews?

If I am scheduling something a week or two out and its for more than an hour or two, I offer a deposit. If I am scheduling anything that involves travel for the escort they will usually ask and I have no problem paying a deposit. If it's local or within a day or two, I have rarely been asked and never paid one.
