James Hoode
Due to the recent increase of COVID cases we have decided that the only possible way to protect our staff and customers is by closing the bar for the next 14 days. It has become evident that social distancing in a bar is nearly impossible. We will resume operations as soon as we feel we can safely do so. Please stay safe, we will see you again soon And yet, all the bathouses around u have been opened for months and some have line ups at 2 am saturday. If you're closed down for four months with limited income, a business that is renting space is likely going to be in more trouble, than a business that owned their space. I hope you own the space or have an understanding landlord. Why are you PM'ing me about this? + newatthis

Lazarus
Canada has a Covid commercial rent relief program if you business is closed. Government pays 50% of your rent, landlord 25% and tenant 35%. Sounds like something they should do in the US. Unfortunately, a lot of businesses in cities like NY will not survive this pandemic.
RealAvalon
Sounds like something they should do in the US. Unfortunately, a lot of businesses in cities like NY will not survive this pandemic. Commercial landlords are not required to apply for the rental assistance program. A bunch of small businesses are in the news shutting down because they owe four months rent and the landlord refused to apply for assistance. The program works like this, the federal government pays 1/2 the rent, and the landlord and tenant split the other half. So to get the 50% federal money the landlord has to reduce the rent by 25% for four months.
Luv2play
Thanks for the links All who have seen this dude danced onstage can agree he’s beyond expectations. Also, I find it questionable sometimes how the dancers dance to songs that I would not consider appropriate for dancing. Like "Take Me to Church" by Hozier; the song Malik dances in the second link. That song would have a certain resonance in Quebec, where within one generation the province went from being very Catholic to anti-clerical and highly secular. EZEtoGRU
Stock Bar has just posted on its Instagram account that it is reopening on Friday August 7. Thanks for the heads up! I also noticed on their facebook page that they will only be open Wednesday through Sunday. I guess that means no more Tuesday nights at Stock for now. I hope things go well for them this time. + Lucky
Chidude
I really miss my weekend getaways from the States to Montreal. Usually go twice a year and always have an amazing time, especially at the strip clubs. Sigh. Stock Bar Montreal
It was announced today that the border will be closed for another 30 days (till at least Sept 21 2020) “We are extending the reciprocal restrictions at the Canada-US border for another 30 days, till Sept. 21, 2020. We will continue to do what’s necessary to keep our communities safe,”
Luv2play
This is bad news for the stripper clubs in Montreal. Americans are their best customers, particularly in the warmer weather during the summer. Given the exchange rate where the US$ goes much farther that the Canadian$, the free wheeling spending is severely curtailed. I imagine many strippers were able to take advantage of the government supports although have no way of knowing that personally. A basic $2000 plus extra $1000 eligible earnings (reportable) mean that at least the rent and car payments are met. Many strippers have girlfriends who, if unemployed as a result of the pandemic, are also collecting $2000 per month. Of course, all of this government largess is coming to an end soon so things may change. Where the bars lose out though is in fewer clients buying drinks and supporting the wait staff. If I get down to Montreal soon, I will definitely check out Stock and Campus.
Luv2play
This is Pride Week in Montreal but from what I know the city cancelled this year’s parade. I ws at last year’s event on this weekend and had a wonderful time over the weekend, and I didn’t even see the parade. The whole Gay Village was alive day and night and I was staying at Le Gouverneur Hotel right in the middle of it. I had two escorts booked for the weekend so for me the fireworks were mostly going off in my suite:).
Luv2play
I just checked my old agenda and Pride Weekend last year ended with the parade on August 18th, not the 11th. So they must have shifted it back a week this year, for all that matters with no parade. My weekend fun was on the 16 and 17th.

This may continue through the end of the year unfortunately. All the best to our friends in Montreal We miss you!! Stock Bar Montreal
