+ keroscenefire
I heard that IRS wasn't taking taxes until Feb 12th. But I guess you can do them early? I just got this one last dumb 1099-Misc from this stupid side-gig job I did early in 2020 that I kinda regret doing at all. Just above $700 so I have to claim it on my taxes. I might do my taxes too. Better than watching the Superb Owl. samhexum and Jarrod_Uncut
Guest
I have No interest in the super bowl. I’ve Already assembled tax info and sent to the CPA (earliest and most organized I’ve been in a decade). I suspect my girlfriend and I will finishing watching Blown Away (go Janucz!...I’ve already ordered a piece of his reticello online!) on Netflix and prepping the house for my grandchildren’s visit soon. I’ll probably also go for a 5 mile hike with a friend. It will not be a boring day.

If you prepare your taxes yourself using TurboTax the app will let you file your return now and then submit it once the IRS begins accepting returns. + keroscenefire and Monarchy79

+ poolboy48220
The now-closed stripper bar in Detroit used to have a Super Bowl party in the back room, a private party where the dancers could get completely naked. The last few before it closed where underwhelming, but in their heyday, they were great times. + Hoover42 and samhexum 1
+ Pensant
Pre-COVID, it was a great day to see a first-run movie. I used to host an anti-Super Bowl party. samhexum, + WilliamM, + augustus and 1 other 1 1
geoffk
I enjoy having a few people over for company and making some foods related to the host cities. We bet on some aspects of the game like who scores first. Who wins the coin toss. Etc. this year tho guests will just have to be limited to our household. + Charlie
I stopped watching pro football when I no longer lived in a city with its own team; it's hard to get excited about any team in southern California. Tomorrow is Monday in Australia, so I will be watching the first day of the Australian Open on Tennis Channel. + augustus and Monarchy79

samhexum
Ribs on the smoker for me tomorrow...year round BBQ in sunny SoCal ? Finally finished shovelling my car out from the massive snow storm....I HATE YOU ! ? Granted, I have a garage spot, but I'd rather live anywhere in the northeast than anywhere in California. I once went to LA for work, and as I drove my rental car off the lot, a voice on the radio told me it was the 200something consecutive sunny day in LA. I almost turned the car around right then and there. I hate heat and excessive (meaning more than 5 days a week) sunshine. I always laugh when the designers on HGTV rave at all the 'natural light' flooding the rooms from sun pouring through the windows. My first instruction to a designer would be: THICK, DARK curtains to block out as much sun as possible. + Pensant

(although THESE days, they are right out in the open) ? But seriously, I hate HEAT, but am a sun worshipper...Go figure. The most relaxing thing for me is sunbathing in my yard when the warm weather comes... (and then dealing with melanoma AFTER....ill never learn!). but I also enjoy a good chill, putting on a fluffy sweater, and a metallic puffer jacket..... Too much of anything Sucks, so I advocate for a good BALANCE. ? MikeBiDude

I'm NOT nude dude, I wear a "banana hammock"... Plus, financial advisor telling me not to pull that much money out while the market is on a high... AND the doctor himself is suggesting I wait until I get the vaccine.... So things are up in the air.... Neighbors will have to deal with my saggy face and puffy belly a bit longer. samhexum
A reporter who thought he was providing Stupor Bowl gamblers with an inside service is singing a different tune after facing backlash. Zach Maskavich of WESH 2 News in Central Florida posted a Twitter video Friday in which he timed the live rehearsal of the national anthem from outside Raymond James Stadium, site of Stupor Bowl 2021. The duet rendition, performed by Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church, was timed by Maskavich at 2 minutes, 16 seconds. In the gambling world, the length of the anthem is a popular Stupor Bowl prop bet, so that is very important information. Maskavich’s Twitter account has 1,687 followers, but his video had more than 585,000 views as of 5 p.m. Saturday. Before the video went viral, the over/under for the anthem was at roughly two minutes, give or take a second, according to AwfulAnnouncing.com. But that soon changed as a reported rush of money came in on the over. That pushed the odds at one book from -110 on each side to -1,500 on the over, and forced some sportsbooks to halt betting on that prop. According to ESPN, Maskavich’s “buddies had been asking him to keep an eye and ear out for inside information on everything from what color of Gatorade the teams were using, to tidbits about the pregame and halftime musical performances.” Maskavich has discovered what many reporters already know to be true of social media: People can get vicious when hiding behind anonymity. His replies are filled with anger for influencing the lines at sportsbooks. “I had a feeling it was going to gain some traction, leading up to the Stupor Bowl, and people liking prop bets,” Maskavich told ESPN. “But I didn’t think it was going to blow up like it did. People are reaching out to me, wondering if Vegas paid me to do it, and all these other crazy shenanigans.” This is Brady GenX (with a brand new team) vs Mahomes Millenial, 2 of the most exciting quarterbacks to have ever come along. BTW, I'm rooting for Mr. Bündchen since Mahomes' father played for the Mets for 2 years.

samhexum
Have any of you ever gotten calls from your alumni office for donations on Superbowl sunday? I recall a few years back I got a call and wondered whether they targeted majors (i.e. arts) that most likely did not like or watch football. I attended Syracuse U for three years, then took courses at Queens College and St John's and transferred the credits back to SU, graduating from there over a year after I last set foot on their campus. Which school am I an alumnus of?
