great list!....I do remember waiting to see if my school was on the scroll at the bottom of the TV screen for a snow day........at other times, we had a "telephone tree" (?) where one house would call the next house on the student list and that next house called the next one - and so on and so on -  to say school is off that day......

I remember a morning in about 1962 where the “phone tree” alerted my mom the school was flooded from overnight rain and no class! She had a few calls to make down branches of the tree!

I remember watching on B&W TV the news about Walt Disney's death, and crying after my mother explained to me what it meant. I remember my 4 year old mind confused because I was able to see WD introducing his TV show  every day even when I knew he was dead.

Isn't interesting that I was able to understand death better than record playing?

I don't remember anything about school cafeterias, because there were none in the public schools I went to--I lived in a small town where everyone went home for lunch.

I remember when men would sanitize their speech when in the presence of women or children.

These days the speech that spews from the mouths of some women or children is blush worthy.
