NYGuy
I have been in discussion with a guy about getting together the next time I am in NY. We were both excited to meet until o brought up the one condition. What was it? I am staying at a private club and he had to wear long pants and a collared shirt. He said love to meet but best he could do was shorts and a tank top. Hotels were hundreds more so I told him not this visit. Now thinking, if he argues on long pants and a collared shirt how is he going to be in peraon?
Walt
Give him your credit card and send him to Bergdorf Goodman. It worked for Richard Gere and Julia Roberts; they weren't exactly a social/style match at the beginning either, and now they are the stuff of legend. We are looking to you @NYguy to prove dreams can come true! BananaBagel, socurious, alexslaveboy and 10 others 1 2 2
Bokomaru
I’d suspect that the problem isn’t that he can’t afford a collared shirt. That’s an incredibly basic request. Maybe he has plans before or after the suggested time, so it would be very inconvenient for him to change. Is it during Pride weekend? + Charlie and marylander1940 1
Gymowner
Most muscle monkies own 50 tank tops and basketball shorts. Not much else. Ever see them onstage accepting an award and so many that's all they wear. Like just coming from the gym awful!!

ChasingGirth
What is the name of the private club you are staying at? Most hotels and the most prestigious ones let you wear whatever you want. And when you have guests you are in charge they have even less to say on their clothing. In certain areas of some hotels you have to wear pants and at least a tee shirt, a light long sleeve sweater cashmere works too. You can’t judge someone based on their wardrobe. I have met some very nice educated escorts that only enjoyed wearing very casual, sporty clothes. And please share the link 😉

Exclusive? Well, it’s all relative I suppose. Very exclusive? No. More like traditional old money, boys’ club. But anyway they have rooms that are dirt cheap considering that they overlook Central Park from the south. If that’s the place we are talking about, I’d fully understand the desire not to go to a regular hotel. BananaBagel and marylander1940 1

Did you start the conversation telling him the strict dress code or did you mentioned that later after exchanging several messages? Did he ask you to come to his place instead? Considering it's NYC I'm sure there plenty of other choices and I'm surprised THIS request was an issue to him. I guess you don't want to tell us his name, but did you search on here to find out if we've talked about him before?

I belong to one where there is a dress code for collared shirts. Jeans acceptable except in the main dining room. There are guest rooms available for members as well as a fitness center. Harryinny
Many clubs in NY require jacket and tie in the public rooms. Union, Knickerbocker, Metropolitan, University, Lotos, and the college clubs to name a few.

The other side was still loaded and one now dead cousin was the president of The Philadelphia Club and involved with the Assembly Ball. We were invited once to an event when I was 17 and I was surprised at how down-to-earth and unpretentious the old-money crowd was. I’m sure some of the men would’ve liked to bed me. BananaBagel
You could always get a room for a few hours on Dayuse with your friend and then slip back into your navy jacket and tassel loafers to hit the club. Best of both worlds approach? Strafe13, nate_sf, cany10011 and 5 others 3 2

NYGuy
I belong to the Club because the rooms are great and equivalent in a hotel are about double so a few nights cover my dues. It also gives me a place to meet clients since I no longer maintain a NY office. The guy who will remain anonymous (but will respond to PM) did say ok if I could change hotels and he does not host. And yes the Club would block someone coming in outside of dress code especially with a tank top on.

Maybe in the next update, perhaps? 😉 BananaBagel

Perhaps this provider has been the 'guest' of another member (or two?) of the club in question in the past and he is practicing discretion by not risking running into another of his clients in such a privately public setting. Also, if he's been there before under the same circumstances then he may fear he risks unwelcome attention from management due to his frequency as a 'guest' of multiple members.
