Tell your friend to try again - with some other escort. He should, however, keep in mind that the rates shown in the review section are certainly subject to change - based on supply and demand as documented in this thread.

He should not only read the reviews but also this board - since quite a few escorts participate. Hopefully he will see that most are quite respectful of their clients. With careful selection he will likely have a great time.

Cost of living calculator

Check this out - I have an online "inflation calculator," that tabulates cost of living increases for the last 200 years. You simply enter a year and an amount, and it will tell you what that amount would be worth in any other year.

Now I well remember that in 1979 a top escort in NYC cost $50, which I considered reasonable, based on how much a great restaurant meal cost, etc.

I also remember that by 1985, a top NYC escort cost $150, which seemed amazingly steep, and by the mid 90s a good one cost $200, and one can easily cost $250 today.

So here are the results.

If an escort charged $50 in 1979 and wanted to keep pace with inflation, he would have charged:

$80 in 1985

$95 in 1990

$113 in 1995

$124 today.

Obviously, escorting has become a MUCH better paying occupation today than it was in the Golden Age of Promiscuity.

Today, while taking a cab to the village, the driver mentioned that a few years ago the district we were drive through used to be filled with prostitues, hookers, hustlers, etc. He pointed out how desolate the streets looked, to him. I told him that a group of friends and I were discussing the issue of esort prices going up; he responded that the major upswing in fees is because it's more and more difficult to meet up for anonymous sex. Although you may have to search a bit more, you could meet with someone for terrific sex and a reasonable price. Now, those who were honest yet worked the bars and clubs have either fallen and left the business or have become "legitimate" and work from home. He, the driver, used to drive a few ladies from CA; they would fly into New York, work for three days, and head home. Now, there is no place for these women to work except for Playboy. I asked about male escorts and, after a face, said this seemed to be the same problem. What you could find in the clubs no longer exists.

I felt I had to add my voice to this post. I live in San Francisco, we have one of the best economies in the country, very expensive cost of living, etc. We also have some of the cheapest escort fees I have ever seen. Often when I'm contacted by a new local client they will try to negotiate my fees.

I am not heartless, but like the man who called and wanted a session for $50 the other day (and you know who you are), people need to realize that we are in business to earn a living. I have been self employed most of my life and understand the concept of budgeting and marketing.

I do offer discounts for some clients, especially if they are honest with me from the start about what they can afford and if it is a session I will enjoy. I also am happy to refer a client to someone within his range. But when a client complains about me fee, during our time together, or tries to get me to match another escorts price, it makes me angry.

I have always felt that the difference between escorts and whores is the way we treat our clients, and in turn are treated by them.

My two cents (which in no way reflects my fee structure),

Joe

Hey Joe, I saw your message yesterday and looked at your web site. God, you are HOT! Anyway...I cannot imagine anyone, with a straight (?) face calling a reputable escort and offering $50.00. Here in NYC you couldn't find someone to clean your apartment for $50.00, and that's with their clothes on! If I had all the money in the world I would LIVE with a few escorts, but, I afford it when I can; if there's someone I really want, I make the effort to save up and splurge on the encounter. If I can't afford it, I look it up on the escort review board and wish I were that lucky!:)

I used to spend a lot of time researching just this in Houston, and I may still. (Do not patronize La Quinta, please.) I would be very interested in you doing this if you have the time. And, yes, I did find it helpful info to have on the phone. Sometimes it proceeded past "Well that's the average here in Houston" to "Do you have any idea what you would be asked for just up the road in Dallas, let alone the coasts?" Of course, I didn't have the info to back up that claim. But one caveat - if you are getting all of your raw facts from this site, I am afraid that it would skew the averages upwards.

I have to but my 2 cents in as well along with Joe, I agree with him 100 percent. I work in a market which does not have a lot of good escorts. I can safely say with a fair amount of certainty that I am one of the good ones. I care about my clients and put them first. Having worked here in TOronto, NY/NJ and Florida, I have gotten a sense of what is out there, at least in those areas.

I am tired of hearing clients complain about my rates, which started out so low, as I didnt realize my true worth is the market, which would have ended up at 65 dollars US at the time. DOnt forget I am working in CND funds, while in Toronto. I have earned my stipes, offer exceptional customer service, make everyone feel as special as I can make them, and a great time sexually. So when someone here in Toronto thinks that 125 and up is too expensive, I get angry. Especially when I go out of my way to treat everyone as best as I can and not have any attitude. I love my reg Toronto clients, but will be working out of New York more often now.

Is it a canandian cultural thing when it comes to paying for escorts, and not treating us like street hustlers that have websites? I know that we are known as being bad tipers......myself included when I go to the US and have to be reminded! I just feel much more valued by my regulars and US Clients. The real problems are with those that approach me through print ads, and that may be my fault for poor marketing of myself locally.

I think alot of guys starting out, such as myself really do underprice themselves. I worked my ass off litterally for very little and by the session sometimes lasting several hours. After receiving great reviews, a huge loyal client base, and seeing what is going on in other parts of the world, I do believe I am worth much more than I started out as. But there does have to be a ceiling to what one can charge.

I do know that when I travel I adjust to market rates, and I have a huge overhead when I do take the show on the road. My clients understand that and I dont ask for the highest in the "geographical range" I tend to go for the mid range wherever I find myself.

But I like to be treated with the same respect that I treat my clients, and as soon as i get comments or wanting to negociate, I start to feel less valued and that then in return unfortunately sets a bad tone for a booking.

I try to be fair and understand peoples situations, I dont watch the clock while I am with someone, and am flexible. I still have clients at my original rate, which is next to nothing, but I understand their situations and I love seeing them.

Anyway I am not sure what the point of my ramblings are, other than offering another escorts perspective. I dont like leaving negative messages, and do have to say that 98% of my clients are wonderful guys

As one of Mike's earliest clients, and hoping to be for a long time to cum, (pun intended) let me add my amen to his value. He is everything a good escort should be..professional, kind and friendly,

wanting to please...an all-round good man. It is amazing to me that anyone would not feel that they had got their full value from this amazing man.

Knowing how much he gives of himself I understand his frustration in his posting above. However, word is out about Mike, and I think he doesn't need to negotiate with anyone. They'll be lucky if he can fit them in.

I realize I'm like a cheering section for Mike Conway, with some of my postings over the past months, and if it seems so, let me add that I am proud to be. I cherish having this man in my life.
