Not even the nuttiest ruling of the day...

Man acquitted of assault as grope lasted less than 10 seconds, sparking outrage. A court ruling that found a school janitor not guilty of groping a student because the act only lasted less than 10 seconds has sparked outrage in Italy.

Kevin Costner's net worth is somewhere around $400Million and in 2022 reportedly earned close to $20Million.  His kids with Baumgartner are 15,14,13, thus payment is only for a few years and actually not that much above California "guidelines" based on his wealth.

Even tho Baumgartner signed a tight prenup, the sleazy publicity around this divorce was damaging Kevin's rep and settling this now, even at what appears to be a very generous amount, was not only wise for his career (which at 68 is still a valued commodity) but also will barely dent his pocket book.

The fact that "he can afford it" should not be the issue (though apparently it seems to be). Child support should be determined by how much it should reasonably cost to raise the children. How can anyone think that $130,000 a month/$1.5 million per year is what it costs to raise children? It's an absolutely outrageous sum, regardless of what "he can afford."
