Escort to Escort: The benefits of touring? (plus HOOBOY question)

Throughout my escorting career I have limited my traveling to visiting only those clients who send for me, meaning they pay for the flight and hire me for an overnight appointment. I have been severly limited in where I can travel to because I have a day job, engineering, and although it is slightly flexible, it just isn't feesible for me to fly to Brazil or Cedar Falls, IA from LAX; the flight must be 5 hours or less and of course it must be direct.

 

This full time job has also prevented me from exploring what other escorts do: traveling to key cities such as San Francisco, Manhattan, Miami, Chicago on their own dime and remaining there for several days or weeks. Beforehand I presume they advertise their upcoming visit in local gay newspapers, their webpage, aol chat rooms, their adjusted AOL profile, and the internet in general. They take appointments before they leave, and meet with clients, who were unable to send for that escort but still eager to hire him, at their hotel or at the client's residence. My friend Sean, worldescrt, travels so regularly that he actually owns residences in a few key cities.

 

As stated in the header of my review page I will be quiting my job in the near future and that will make me more accessible for trips afar. I am looking into "touring", and meeting with all those potential clients who email me to ask "ever make it to...(Miami, Minneapolis, NYC...)?". However, I want to be sure that losing business here, will be overcompensated for by gaining some "there".

 

My question is "is touring worth it?". Are you able to cover the expense of flying out there and the hotel (even though I am outdoorsy and love sleeping outside, my taste in hotels runs beyond pricey; think it's cuz I am gay? :-) ), the extra expense of advanced-advertising outside your homestead, and also make more than you would if you stayed home?

 

Also, do you travel to the advertised place at the advertised time no matter what, or do you travel only if you have enough scheduled appointements before you go to cover the expense, and if not contact the scheduled clients to reschedule, as you initially should have warned them you may have to do, for a time when you may be able to make sufficient pre-arrangements? And for clients: What would you think if Hooboy (I haven't asked him yet, he may not have time) included a travel section on this webpage? It would need only 5 columns: the escort's name, their homebase city, where they will visit in the near future, when they will be visiting, and the number to book them at BEFORE they travel. It might be handy to have a box to check to answer the question "is the trip for sure?" meaning, are they going to visit the city no matter what, or is it contingent upon making enough appointments before hand. Notifying Hooboy of travel plans would of course be the escort's responsibility, and there's no reason Hooboy should update it more than weekly. This would be a convienent (for us anyway, but more work for poor Hooboy) way of consolidating the travel schedule of all escort's reviewed on this site with the presence of mind to notify Hooboy. I only ask you clients beforehand, because I suspect many cynics would falsely accuse Hooboy of once again using this website to shamelessly promote his favorites, and I want to nip that possibility in the bud right now. I wonder if you couldn't just announce your tour dates on the message board? (Or, better yet, a separate area added just for touring escorts. - especially if the archiving could be done quickly and easily once the dates have passed.) This way HooBoy doesn't have to be involved - less work and less chance the peanut gallery will get their undies in a twist.

 

By the way - since you would be on tour, will you be selling T-shirts emblazoned with your picture on the front, tour dates on the back and selling for about $50 a piece? The marketing possibilities just blow my mind! :7

Some potential problems and necessary modifications: No matter how many times they are told not to (sigh) people will respond to the post rather than call or email to make the appointment. Also, escorts' travel schedules change so they need special access to edit their post beyond the 2 hour time frame now in effect. This would allow an escort to simply return to his 'subject' and make the necessary changes without making a new post and therebye making a confusing mess. He could simply modify the subject header to reflect where he will be and when. Example "Rod Hagen Minneapolis 11/13-11/18/1999. 310.360.9890 for appointment NOW".

It's a great idea. I have attempted to update escorts travel plans when they have asked me to. As Jake pointed out, it got one individual's many personalities panties in a twist.

 

It is also much more work for me. It would be really easy for me to create a new conference (forum) that escorts could update at will. The threads could be whatever escorts wanted them to be: Their Name, the city they're traveling to, etc. The updates are instantaneous, unless you have AOL. All AOL users should read my Tips in the Lounge, because in most cases you are reading old stuff - no matter what website they are on.

 

Leandream, you're smart and computer savvy, I could even make you (or others who want to spend the time) an admin or a moderator to fasten another set of eyes on the forum to watch out for the crackpots. It's another reason I want to have a totally separate forum for escorts go gather to protect themselves against people who could possibly be dangerous - as we have recently witnessed.

 

I'll zip up for now and let the escorts have their input. This is a very fluid website and the landscape can be altered dramatically on a moment's notice.

one of the escorts i've been seeing for several years does "tour". his website lists his dates and city; that is all he has needed and he completely sells out his time. also, he e-mails clients that he is coming to town. when he comes to my city, i hire him for several days but before me and/or after me he has other clients he sees; he got these other clients from website inquiries or like myself met him out of town and are thrilled to have him here locally for and hour or two or an overnight.

 

the only downside from a client's point of view is that if you are trying to cram too much into too short a time period it is just not the same as a leisurly evening or overnight. this escort and another one i know both needed several days "rest" after a weeks run in a city. to see 5 or 6 clients in one day for several days in a row does no one a favor. the escorts dick was actually sore from such "overuse".

 

rod, one of the things i've liked about your postings is that it seems you basically do one client a day/night (billyboy in chicago advertises the same). while not everyone can afford this, if there are enough such people in a city then that would be good. from your postings, you sound intelligent which i like very much; if you travel my way(kansas city) i'd love to see you. you sound like your head is on straight and you know how to treat a client and i am sure your clients treat you back with the same kindness.

Perhaps another approach would be to ask potential clients to e-mail you for inclusion on a mailing list. Organize a separate mailing list for each city or region in your e-mail address book. Then, when you decide you'd like to travel to a particular city, you could send out a message to the people on the mailing list for that city, and any others within a reasonable distance, indicating that you may be traveling to their area soon, asking whether they'd like to see you. You'd probably have a pretty good idea from the number of names on your list as to whether you could book enough clients to make it worth the trip. And I suspect potential clients willing to submit their e-mail addresses would be likely prospects to become "regulars," making it easier to set up future trips. Sounds like a pretty inexpensive way to set things up. Get enough overnight visits lined up, and you may not even have to concern yourself with the cost of a hotel room. By the way, if you ever travel anywhere in Florida or Georgia, I'd like to be added to your list!

This subject has always been a wet dream for me. However, by the time it became popular, I would have been a niche player in the escort biz and it would have been a larger risk for me to try to make the money back. Well, I'm not an escort but I am an occasional client and thought that perhaps you could benefit from a client's point of view. As a client, I would love to hire an escort who receives absolutely wonderful reviews BUT I am of modest means and cannot afford flying an escort cross country then paying him his usual "travel fees"....it's just out of my league. I was on Talvin DeMachio's mailing list for about a year. Then I planned a trip to New Orleans and learned from his news letter he would be there and took advantage of it to hire him twice. (a great guy by the way) I have also hired escorts to travel to Las Vegas and Los Angeles, but not to my home. Las Vegas is easy and cheap to get to. All the newpapers have cheap packages. Great hotels and a lot to do. Some good local escorts, but not a lot. I suggest you try announcing a planned trip to LV and accept appointments. There are many porn stars and escorts who would cause me to plan a trip there.
