TorontoDrew
A Toronto provider I know was recently held in confinement for 14 hours at US Immigration, questioned and ultimately refused entry. I would recommend to any non US based provider to hide their face on RM if they ever plan to travel to the US for any reason. I recently contacted a new Toronto provider and recommended removing his face for this reason. I dont know for sure how they are recognizing sex workers but they are getting the information some how. He posted this article on Twitter. Solution + keroscenefire Posted November 17, 2023 Solution Share Posted November 17, 2023 Yes unfortunately I agree that pretty much everyone should not share face pictures on online escort web sites. With face recognition technology, it's just too risky. Even US escorts. I mean you may not be detained from an international trip now, but that certainly could change in the future. + jessmapex, + tassojunior and TorontoDrew

A couple theories popped in my head. Law enforcement is definitely always looking at RM first off. So one is he posted he was gonna be in the USA on such a date and they went ahead and posted his picture at the border crossing with a note to pull him aside if you see him. Another is that he was hired by someone from law enforcement and again they watched at the border for him when he crossed. Becket
SirBillybob
Another extensive article on the topic. Detention/questioning/refusal could be rare but the rule of thumb entering USA from Canada is that doing so at airport border services avoids being stranded at some remote outpost if travelling by bus or train. SirBillybob
If the primary basis of questioning by border services is facial recognition, given that some ads contain misappropriated photos of persons never associated with sex work, wouldn’t there be reports of such persons, generally young and good-looking, running into problems? It seems to me that somehow the trigger for border patrol surveillance includes identifying information and not simply facial images. Guest
I’m aware of another Canadian provider who was denied entry into the US for the same reason. Seems CBP would have more pressing business, though perhaps it’s part of their larger effort to combat human trafficking which certainly is understandable. BuffaloKyle
They do take illegal prostitution as serious. Some providers could come here and make thousands of dollars. Jarrod_Uncut and Danny-Darko
NYXboy
Its been known for a while now-DHS has scrapped all RM profiles and with facial recognition tech- it pings when they get to the border. They then check RM for travel dates listed as confirmation- and reject entry as the tourist is intending to work. DHS is doing this under the guise of stopping sex trafficking. it reeks of homophobia. I know two providers this has happened to. Its happened to some Only Fans guys too. I would encourage all to put face photos as private, and perhaps fudge the travel dates they list before visiting. They are doing it for two reasons: stopping sex trafficking (RM seems to be an unlikely source, IMO) and stopping people from working in the country while entering on a tourist visa. While I think there are better and more important uses of DHS's and IBP's time and resources, I do not believe it has anything to do with homophobia. We don't know whether female sex workers are also being detained. I'm going to guess they are. Danny-Darko and RyanDean
Luv2play
I've heard of a couple of Canadian providers who have been banned from the US, one I think for 5 years. Another provider, a Brit is only touring Canada these days and since he is s high profile porn star, I suspect he is also banned. I took advantage by hiring him this summer and it was a great experience. America's loss. Lol. + Pensant
+ DrownedBoy
This law is idiotic- like the one article said, there's been only 1 conviction for sex trafficking, while the supposedly trafficked are being punished. Why don't they find out how many congressmen paid for sex? I remember what Larry Flint did during Clinton's impeachment, and I loved watching a hypocritical conservative get booted from the speakership. + Pensant, marylander1940, TorontoDrew and 1 other 2
+ BenjaminNicholas
When you cross-borders on a frequent basis, you learn every trick to avoid detection, including how to immediately lock your iPhone in a way that it demands a password (not FaceID). You also travel with electronics that don't have sensitive info on them or if they do, it's encrypted. I travel internationally a lot and have never had an issue. A lot of guys who get nailed by a CBP don't exactly work to 'blend in' when transiting into another country. 56harrisond, Your Man in Arlington, DMICS and 6 others 6 2

Jason Dutch
An escort friend of mine told me last week about being pulled aside at the airport back in April when he was on his way to Orlando for a porn industry event. He had actually deactivated his RM profile months previous and stopped escort work. He said they surmised that he had stopped escorting and that his story checked out but warned him to be careful. By contrast, as a US citizen I have it easier than most. I cross the Peace Bridge (sometimes Lewiston) 15-20 times each way every year, and I almost never get any hassle crossing by land. Been gently searched once or twice going into Canada over the past 4 years or so of frequent land crossing. But crossing into the Buffalo side, the officer usually just says hello, blinks a few times, ask me what I'm importing (I always declare super honestly, they like that haha) and waves me me on through. (Detroit is a different story, but that was never related to my work, they're just total dicks there to gay people, people of colour, anyone they can bark at. Always take Pt Huron if you can, haha) I'll note that, after 2 years waiting, I finally did my NEXUS interview last month. So now I'm just waiting on the card (any day now...) and also waiting for my citizenship stuff to go through in the next few months... with those settled, I will feel even more secure. But for now I'm thinking over what precautions might I take given this increased scrutiny, and I will certainly keep an eye on this as it further unfolds. I'm mostly just very grateful for having the wild privilege of having a US passport and therefore enjoyed pretty unfettered freedom of mobility compared to most of the world. Would be stupid to lose that by being careless somehow... Jarrod_Uncut, marylander1940, + m_writer and 1 other

But if I were to do it again, definitely would stick to train or air, use a clean phone and device, have everything laid out. Like @BenjaminNicholas said, they want your whole life story, how much money you bringing, etc etc. Plus it’s too damn cold up there lol. And if you are a Canadian citizen, I suggest you contact your MP to change the law. Probably sooner rather than later because if the polls are accurate, Trudeau's government will get shellacked at the next election. And what exactly do Larry Flint and Congressmen paying for sex have to do with Canadian immigration officers enforcing their border laws? Do you object to Canadian border patrol doing their job by preventing non-citizens they suspect may be trying to cross their border to work illegally?
