Where have all the good masseurs gone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else feeling a shortage of the old guard, good reliable masseurs? I feel like now there is a sea of headless profiles on RM. A majority now are flaky and do not reply to valid inquiries and if they do reply there’s major attitude. I’m also finding that if someone does have a face pic and I click into the ad I’m instantly turned off by the bizarre international male photo shoots they chose. There’s anything from varying hairstyles, to wearing a suit aimlessly staring out of a window in one image to wearing bagging jeans and a tank top sitting on the hood of a car…who am I getting on the day of a massage…what is your brand?? Then there’s the price. Lots of ads now with a starting price of $300 for an hour, meanwhile it says the person has only been active on the site for a few months and has none to less than a handful of valid reviews. Or the opposite where the masseur claims to have seven years experience but list their age at 23? And if you’re able to navigate through all of the above mentioned then I’ve been finding that they have hang ups about being nude or any type of ending.

Anyone have a list of tried and true masseurs? In Manhattan, can host, aren’t a fortune, nice, reliable, not uptight, not weird or flaky, decently good looking/in-shape…asking for the impossible?

I think there are a number of guys that align with your requirements; three that I have seen are Strongstrokes, Jose_OK and Jorge_M. All are below 300 for a massage and have genuine pics that match their looks (except for Strongstrokes, who does not have a face pic but has about 80 reviews and lots of discussion here about how he looks).

Many of the ones I started seeing in the late 1990s went on to something that provides a steady paycheck or retired for one reason or another -- age, health, etc. I prefer an older, mature masseur, and they're a challenge to find in Dallas.

Jorge_M is my regular and I will attest he is fantastic,  generous and sweet as can be.  Did I mention he's also really 🔥!

One really needs to knead out the "masseurs" on RM. So many are there for the $$$ and not trained on massage. Sometimes I want to try them based no their looks. If you're really looking for a massage think with your head and not your dick.

Truth be told, there are a lot of guys simply looking for some intimate touch. Personally, I can't fault them for that, and I'm glad there's a market for non-professionals seeking to please. A lot of us can't compete on Grindr (or even access the app), and we can't afford high-priced escorts. No one should have to go through life empty of intimate touch, especially gay men. Finding a professional masseur with talent, who happens to love nudity and playing in the sensual realm is a lot more challenging. Those guys are out there, but the favorites are very busy, serving loyal customers and living life. Every once in awhile a new guy slips in. Thank goodness for a forum like this one to spread the word.

Jorge_M ghosted me when I turned up at his place at a mutually scheduled time; he wasn't there and wouldn't answer messages then or since (despite my messages). Appreciate that you (@jmichaeliii) have had a great experience but totally opposite for me, fyi.

That's kind of shocking to be honest.  He has a pretty solid reputation between here and his own reviews.

Just curious if you would mind sharing the timeframe it happened.

I could have written the OP myself.

I started hiring in the late 90s / early 2000s, when there seemed to be an embarrassment of riches - the hottest, experienced guys of all ages, providing a good massage with fun added in,  for a fair rate.

Something turned in the late 2010s (IMO), right before the pandemic. That's when I noticed an invasion of the new providers 'working' in their own reality: you meet at the appointed time (if you're lucky), he will strip down to his shorts (they consider that being fully naked for an erotic massage), and then they squirt cold baby oil over you and rub it on your back with one hand, while they're texting with the other. (None of this was mentioned in their ad). If they're doing this while standing in front of me or on my side, this is when I manage to reach over and start pulling down their underwear, and they're usually ok with it. Flip over on your back and they will fondle your dick (but nothing sensual to get you erect) for about three minutes, and then they tell you the appointment is over (40 minutes out of 60). When you remind them you still have 20 minutes, suddenly there's a misunderstanding which doesn't exist when it's time to pay.

Something is totally out of whack.

Now would be a great time to reboot the 'agencies' of yesteryear (before RentMen and RentMasseur took over)  where the providers are screened, and you're nearly 100% certain you will get what you're looking for. Hiring off the sites (where anyone can post anything they want to attract a client) is a big gamble these days.

Just my opinion.

I can relate to this problem.  2 months ago, I hired someone that claimed to do deep bodywork and then the classic thing happened of a mediocre massage and then wanting to tug and get paid.  I likely didn't vet enough and was going on reviews.  But it's tough.  I only see three guys now and two of them are only travel masseurs.  It sucks that you have to hire the frogs to get to the prince.  I will say that if someone is just flat out bad enough, I will tell them the session is not working for me and pay them for their pro rated time and leave.  Not the most comfortable situation, but someone has to let them know they shouldn't be advertising as massage therapists.  They should be on the escort sites, but I don't think they want to because they charge more to advertise.

Massage is a bit of a relative experience.  Some guys think a hot guy that does mediocre massage is the best massage ever and will leave a 5 star review.  It's a drag. So please promote the guys that are good because of their skill not because they are hot.  Looks are obvious, but true skill is harder to find.  And when i need deep massage, my body really needs it.

There are definitely good masseurs in NYC. I see a few of them regularly and would recommend both of these who have around a $200/hour price point.

Wagner is a total sweetheart, despite looking like rough trade. His massage skills are A plus with sensuality sprinkled throughout.

StrongStrokes is also great and I've seen him many times over the past three years. Yes, he doesn't show his face due to his other job, but if you like conventionally handsome white guys with blue eyes and dark hair, you will find him attractive.

Your reasoning is why I like this site -- we can benefit from someone else's experience (whether good or bad). Members ask me for Dallas recommendations pretty frequently. I'm happy to share info and ask them to get back with me if they book anyone I recommend so that I know my rec is good; unfortunately, I rarely hear back, so it's hard to know if my opinions are valid or if it's just me.
