Turned down because I don't drive

I've been chatting with someone and agreed to meet over lunch to get to know each other. 20yo, model wannabe, found in instagram, not an escort, more a seeking situation. So a couple of hour prior he messages me:

(HIM) I am at this address, when are you picking me up?

(ME) I thought we would meet at the restaurant. I will wait you there.

(HIM) My previous bfs always picked me up from home.

(ME) You live in the suburbs, we go to a restaurant in the centre, I live in the centre. Why don't you get a taxi and I'll cover it.

(HIM) I don't like taxis, come and pick me up with your car.

(ME) But I don't drive and I don't have a car.

(HIM) What? You don't have a car??

And that was the end of story... 😅

Maybe an Uber?

I offered him a taxi/uber but didn't like it. He wanted me to go and pick him up myself, open his door etc...

In any case I am glad I did not meet him. I just came out of a 2 year relationship with another nut case, I could use a break. 😆

Sounds like he wanted car sex!  Most of the young guys I find on hookup apps or at bars just want to quickly fuck in the backseat of my car in a parking lot.

Special thanks to @Whitman for posting this picture earlier today:

Well to start with,  I think it wise to remember that you will really have varied responses based on experience and where we live.   In some areas   not having a car would be kind of strange,  but in others,  a car is not needed and is almost an "extra"  that isn't needed.

I have several vehicles,  but I wouldn't judge someone on not having or owning one.   There might be a valid reason.    The OP here just may not have need for a car since he lives in the City center.   I personally thought it was gutsy that he ask the OP to come get him.    I'd move on rather quickly.

Spot on. I live in the centre of an old city in Europe. Most of it is pedestrian area. There is a metro station a few minutes walk. I quit driving many years ago and sold may car which was parked for months, running out of battery, alarm going off etc... When I want to go to an appointment in the business district which is 10Km away I use a chauffeured car. Restaurants, bars, shops are all walking distance. I find it very liberating not having a car to drive through traffic, find where to park etc. My best friend loves cars and driving, has two Porsche, we occasionally go to the country and the beach.

The guy could judge me by the area I live and by the restaurant I was going to take him. But he was not smart enough. In retrospect he was not even that good looking. I am glad I did not meet him.

I love high maintenance and prima donnas 😄

I don't need to rent, my best friend loves cars and has a small collection of Porsche. Occasionally he persuades me to go to a beach club.

Sounds like maybe he wanted to judge you based on the type of car you drive. In his response he was more surprised by the fact that you don't have a car than the fact that you don't drive. You know, presentation is everything to some.

Correct, but where I live, most people don't have cars because they are useless. He was from the suburbs where car is a necessity. He could judge me from my home address and from the restaurant I was going to take him.

I remember car sex from my youth, but now in the city centre most people don't want a car and parking lots have disappeared years ago. 😅

If that's the kind of guy you actually go after prepare yourself for plenty of drama and disappointing sex.

You should have asked a car from your best friend. After all don't you enjoy the hunt / chase, right?

Drama yes. Love drama. Disappointing sex? Why? Au contraire...

No I will not ask my friend for a car. I hate cars and driving. Once in a while I do him the favour and get in his car. That's enough.
