I have resisted, until now, the urge to respond to this thread of Mr. Matthews’, and although sorely tempted, I might have succeeded but for Blankman -- just too good not to acknowledge. And once you have fallen off the wagon... well withdrawal symptoms are hell to endure. :-(

 

Not being a stranger to the long-winded post, (as I’m sure many will agree) I must admit to being bested and busted (exhausted) by Mr. Matthews -- I’m truly revealed as just a piker in this arena -- another casualty of this thread. :-)

 

Regarding Mr. Matthews’, whatever grievance he may have sincerely held, though probably mistakenly at least in his since of proportion, he is long since past that. It is clear to me and I’m sure to most, if not all, that he has since sacrificed his long-term reputation for the short term benefit of pumping up the hits on his site and raising his status on that nonsensical 100 Top Escorts page. (I could go on about this page but there is no sense in belaboring that obvious sham of what it purports to be -- not that a broken clock can’t give the right time occasionally). I doubt the recent flurry of his page hits will be sustained for long, (as with all hot air balloons once the stream of hot air cools the balloon falls like a rock) > but that depends partially on us at this site.

 

I commend HooBoy on his restraint in this episode... I sure I would not have been so restrained. I really respect the way HooBoy has handled this site. Although I dont visit often or contribute very often the site reflects a lot of interesting feelings about the escorting business from both clients, escorts and observers.

 

I dont usually post on anything longer than a few messages and I never revisit a string that I have contributed to. At my old age I tire easily and rarely can remember what strings I contributed to.

 

For those that follow my recommended lists (somehow the part of my brain that remembers what someone's dick looks like has been unaffected by my loss of mental ability)...one of the things I look for is class. That means the ability to treat people with respect regardless of the circumstances. It is a skill I never had, but appreciate in others. I can only hope to keep trying to learn HooBoy's ability to handle the worst of people with ablomb.

I don't think this site is absurd. I think it's useful to find out that a certain escort has a habit of ripping off clients, as was disclosed in a recent thread about an escort with the initials "AH" or that an escort has a habit of secretly recording his clients' voices, as Sean has admitted doing. I do think some of the things posted here are absurd. When people get into heated arguments about the quality of the services a prostitute provides, that certainly fits my definition of "absurd." With regard to negative reviews published on this site, I must say that even if they don't allege theft of the client's money or other egregious wrongdoing, they can be valuable if they warn clients that an escort is a frequent no-show, refuses to do things that he earlier agreed to do, demands more money than was agreed, or has other habits that are likely to upset most clients. Posting this kind of information about encounters with escorts can prevent wasted time and angry scenes for both client and escort.

 

Something about this site that Kyle obviously missed is that an escort can usually minimize the impact of a negative review by replying to it in a reasonable, patient and good-natured way, rather than with insults and imprecations. I have seen several do this, and the response from visitors has always been favorable.

 

With regard to your taping of clients, I never suggested that you did it for the purpose of extortion. I have suggested that if the authorities ever decide that they would like to identify your clients, obtaining those tapes from you by a subpoena would be very helpful to them. As I recall, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, it was Sean himself who posted that he had tapes of clients and that he had them going back several months (he never explained why he would need the months-old tapes if the only reason he taped clients was for security purposes). According to Sean, one of these tapes had Bigjoey saying something to the effect "thanks, I had a good time" as he was leaving, thus proving that Bigjoey had not had a disappointing encounter with Sean. I believe he mentioned he was trying to find a way to run the tape online....yet, he still says the tapes are only for security purposes.

 

As for Kyle's allegations, he continues to fail to mention that he was the one who gave the client (the one who posted the negative review and someone he'd never met) his personal phone number. I believe he stated he gave the guy his personal number because the client expressed an infatuation with him (there's nothing like letting one's ego get in the way of common sense). You're right of course. An escort who responds with dignity to a bad review or ignores one if there are many better ones available is not going to be damaged at all.

 

All are also right that anyone posting a "review" is trying to codify what can't be codified -- subjective physical pleasure. Some people get off on being robbed, beaten, threatened or put down even if they supposedly aren't into a "scene".

 

What is useful about reviews is that they identify escorts who are what they advertise themselves as being, are reliable, consistently friendly and responsive within reason -- all anyone can ask. They also identify escorts into specific scenes and that's useful. This site provides a lot of free advertising.

 

However, selling sex (and buying it) are strange things in a still puritanical, sex averse society. Many of us have internalized problems with everything from being gay or bi to accepting or paying money for sexual acts to how we look and how much we invest in our looks.

 

Kyle and the WES seem to me to be profoundly lacking in self esteem, so much so, that with their mixture of hysterical and scattershot hostility and their equally hysterical self justifications, they do more damage to themselves than anyone could do to them on a site like this. I assume tough lives and maybe lingering issues with both their sexuality and the way they are making use of it have made them excessively sensitive to any imputation of difficulties with them. There is also a strange perfectionism about them -- they must appear perfect in all eyes and anyone who freely expresses (or allows to be expressed) a different opinion is a horror to be exterminated. Which leads to the paranoia both have demonstrated on this and other threads.

 

I have no idea who Hooboy is or what he gets out of this site. I have met escorts who don't like what he's doing and suspect him of things and I have no way of assessing that. But the site is not merely Hooboy's toy as far as I can see. He does not censor or color reviews, the occasional pulling of posts on the message boards seems justified to me and when the Danny Damon situation was really getting out of hand he obviously behaved in a way that was fair to both "Danny" (whoever that was/is really) and to anyone tempted to approach him.

 

Similarly he has allowed Kyle and WES to vent to an extreme. I have been told that most people in therapy who have been "escorts" are deeply troubled and have had many traumas early in their lives. That is not ALL escorts, many of whom seem to enjoy what they do and actually earn well from it as long as they can deal with the stresses or their looks last (and in some cases beyond). But I suspect Kyle is a damaged person and I am sorry for him. Maybe WES is too though he style inhibits any empathy I might have for him.

 

What I'm left with from this long thread and some others referring to it, is a sense of the pathos that exists in some escorts. And that makes me sad. I also wonder if some of us are enabling very dysfunctional people for an hour or so of -- something.
