Would really bad spelling ever prevent you from hiring an escort? I have seen quite a few who describe themselves in their ads as "intelligent, educated and versitill."

WOW. That's pretty funny considering next to their bio there is probably a box which they get to check for their sexual preference.

Hmmm. All I can say is I'm known to make spelling/grammar error from time to time; nobody's perfect. Occasionally while one is writing a distraction comes up and it manifests itself in their typing. For instance, he could have heard the word "till" while he was typing and the extra "l" just happened and he didn't think twice about it.

If it's just one little error fine, but if the whole profile is a mockery of the English language (given English is their first language) ... I would reconsider. All the above goes for clients too. :)

Although, I do know ONE poster in here that wouldn't hire him for that, he'd probably mocking him ;)

Yes, I probably would hire. That is unless I wanted to enter him in a spelling contest. I beleive that most escorts may not be the best spellers around, nor can most discuss Hemingway, Sontag, or Rosseau. But I don't really hire them for intellectual discussions...;-)

BTW...that should be Hemmingway and Rousseau!

Actually, you had "Hemingway" correct the first time, but it's "believe". Nevertheless, I agree that I don't hire escorts because I want them for a spelling bee. And I have read enough original manuscripts by famous writers to know that correct spelling has little to do with the quality of someone's thinking.

I agree with Scott. We all make both spelling and grammar errors especially when we are writing quickly. I am frequently appalled when I reread one of my own posts on this message board and find I have made a glaring error because of haste or laziness -- not I hope because of ignorance. I am far more careful if I am writing something of an academic nature or a letter to the editor of my local newspaper.

Now with that said and done I do find things like "R" instead of are, "U" instead of you, "$" instead of s, and "bro" or "brotha" instead brother real turn offs. I insist on having lunch or dinner with the escorts I hire and to me this type of usage identifies a person with whom I really don't have much in common and lunch or dinner conversation would probably be a real bore. Call me a snob if you wish but I would NOT hire an escort who uses these terms in his add.

>The same that is said for class also goes for an education.

>If you must say that you have it, then you do not.

I agree totally, Bobby - nothing more pretensious or insecure than someone who has to tout their educational achievements. Just today I looked at a prostitute's site and this is what he claimed about himself:

<<I'm a 20-year-old student in Los Angeles. I am studying psychology and linguistics, with a focus on French and Russian. . .

Due to my arduous summer school schedule, I am not available at all during the daytime on weekdays.>>

After reading your post, I thought to myself about the prostitute who wrote this: "How insecure must this hooker be that he has to yap on about his education like that?"

As you pointed out, Bobby: "The same that is said for class also goes for an education. If you must say that you have it, then you do not."

Pretentious dear :) Not a hurried typo. Favorite word. I live it and love it ;)

The guy is giving you a background on his course of study and personality. He's not FLAUNTING an education in any way. He's explaining that because he is in school with a heavy work load (any person who has ever been a student during intensive summer sessions would understand) and has limited availability. Must you pick people apart for EVERYTHING?

Nobody that mattered ::grin:: would ever infer such a thing :)

Some guys have a minimalist email style (ie. will send U pix)... Others are more communicative and expressive... When a guy exhibits a minimalist style I always want to have a phone conversation to get some kind of clue as to his overall intelligence level... Surprisingly, in most instances their verbal skills reveal well-spoken and articulate individuals. In fact, I have been fortunate to have hooked up with guys who were architects, lawyers, accountants, sculptors, etc.

When I see obvious spelling blunders (other then the excusible typo of wich I am miself ofen giuilty) a red flag definitely goes up… I don't wnat to get involved with someone who is "half-baked"...

Remember… the BRAIN is actually the most significant and essential sexual organ!

A dinner party with a bunch of old, lonely guys in their 60s and little boy hookers sitting next to them batting their eyelashes and purring. God, that sounds great. I can't believe I missed it.

And what a shock that the 65 year-old guy afterwards comes to a message board and praises the little boy escort who flattered him for the night, hoping to pry some rent money out of him. That's really unusual and interesting.

Someone talking about their educational background you have to put in context. In Bobby's case, he has it on his Escort website, he is "selling" himself as a busy college student who is escorting. In my opinion that is a Plus :) Or a lot of people put it in a personal ad. When someone is "bragging" about it at a cocktail party, that is pretentious x(
