I have a question about go-go dancers at Mickey's. I used to go there semi-frequently way back before they ruined the neighborhood with road construction (5 or more years ago). On Wednesdays (and maybe Mondays and Tuesdays) they used to regularly have boys on boxes dance at happy hour - roughly 5 - 8 PM, before the dance floor opens and the party crowds settle in for the evening. Usually two different guys who would switch on the 1/2 hour. Most of these guys were gorgeous.

 

Now, every once in awhile if I have time to fight the horrific parking situation, I try to stop in for a drink on Wednesdays between 5-8, but no more dancers! :-( Has that tradition stopped?

 

PS-I'm not talking about the 'shower boys' who dance later in the evening when the dance floor is open and the place gets so crowded you can't get close to the guys.

It seems like it did come to an end. I used to visit back then and enjoyed the dancers, especially since they wore g-strings back then, and especially John Rowe. It looks as though Thursday nights are the only other night other than Fri-Sat that they do go-go boys.

 

I went St. Patrick's day last week and found it a little dull. Some of the guys were really nice (James? blondish with a decent build and way-friendly attitude) and some were exceedingly well-built (don't remember his name, always wore a Jose Eber-style hat and pulled his trousers down to show a g-string underneath, but not much more), but it wasn't the same.

 

*Sigh* I lived through a golden era and didn't know it.

Micky's Thursday night go-go party was sucking big-time last night as they have started a "Dating Game" event which continuously interrupts the dancing. It's hard to see how the dancers can make much in tips with this bore going on. Fortunately, a surprise guest was in the crowd...
