Hello. I'm a reporter for the NY Blade (honestly) and am writing an article about the closing of the Gaiety. I never had the pleasure of going, although I do remember falling in love with the Village Voice ads in the early 1980's, and am looking for people to share a few stories I can use for the article. You can either post them here, or you can email them to me at jwithers@nyblade.com. I'll be working on the article from now until Wed, so if you have any wild Gaiety stories make sure I get them before Wednesday morning because my editor wants the story then. Thanks in advance.

BillieXX: This forum is a gold mine for information on the Gaiety. Just take a scroll down memory lane and enjoy the threads/replies contributed by many of the Gaiety regulars. Not long ago Valley Dweller North started a thread entitled "How did you 1st hear about the Gaiety". It gives a wonderful overview and insight into the past 30 years of Gaiety history.

Enjoy, and please share your article with us. Good luck! We are all going to miss that place, it's been our home away from home.

Sadly the "G" went out with a WIMPER instead of a BANG. No point in Pointing Fingers on that Issue! So a Great Article would be the Closest thing to a "Proper Goodbye"! Hopefully the article will include all of the "Layers of Entertainment" that went on! I think one reason the "G" did fly under the Radar for many years, is that it was not common knowledge, about Sexy Hardons, and just what a "Private" meant at the "G"..To say Hot guys strutting their "Stuff" on stage isn't really the WHOLE story, is it? IF ANY Paper gets it right, it would be the "Village Voice"..:+

Good luck with the article and I hope you will post it here so we can all see it. The thread Cooper points out to you is an excellent source. You should also check out the NYO archives: http://www.male4malescorts.com/gaiety/gaietylst.htm

I am sure you are an excellent reporter. However, there isn't one reporter at the GAY NY Blade that attended the Gaiety? I would think work at the NY Blade would make a night at the Gaiety, the Dugout and Webster Hall mandatory. ;)

Hey all. After making my editor curse my name, the Gaiety article is turned in. Most of you will probably be cursing my name when it comes out on Friday! :-) When it's up, I'll come back with the link. Thanks for your help!

HOW ABOUT LaFLEUR'S?

Why not make this your next project...in fact, why not examine the difficulties that gay (meaning male) establishments have in midtown vs their straight (meaning go-go dancers) counterpart. It would be interesting, no?

Village Voice

Shouldn't the double standard between female and male strip joints be pointed out in the article being written.

Or commented on in a letter to the Editor!
