Another NY bar to close!

I received an email from one of my favorite bars in NY - The Slide - saying they were closing in June. In their words:

 

"The World is changing, the city is changing, the East Village is changing...hey even the Gays are changing.

 

We have come to realise that The Slide can't meet the world's expectations of us any longer. The City is cracking down on nightlife, the Bowery is changing, the handwriting is on the wall above the urinal.

 

It's sad when a love affair dies. And The Slide was a love affair for all of us. All that you can do, when you know it's over is pack your bags and move on. So after our closing party on Saturday, June 3rd we will put the go-go boy platforms, the signs, the furniture and all those left behind underwear in storage. We'll keep them ready for when the time is right to bring back The Slide for the third time (if you don't know the history, it's on our website)"
