A one paragraph mention in the Metro section of the Washington Post earlier this week breathed a little life in the possible resurrection of the DC strip scene. The Post wrote that a committee of the DC City Council recommended an exemption to city law so that the gay strip clubs in Southeas, DC which were displaced by the new baseball stadium would be allowed to re-locate (within one year) to a warehouse area in the Northeast section of the city (near Mt. Olivet Cemetery).

Bob Siegel, who owned most of the block in SE that was home to several of the gay establishments, wants to re-open in the new location. Don't think its a done deal though. The council member for the ward in NE that includes this warehouse area is opposed to it as are some of the more vocal members of his constituency.

So where do we write to register OUR opinion?

There's probably a fairly large group here ready to spend a fairly large chunk of change in the newly-reopened clubs.

How do we put the coin in the slot? DC's only industry is tourism. If they create a grown-up zone like they had in SW, it will bring money into town. Money talks.

Who do we write to?
