Iam sure some of the "MER" "big guy"/lurkers will go back to there kingdom of twinks to complain that the Hooville queen(s) are crying about the anniversary of the Gaiety closing but how could I miss giving them something to talk about.

Much has changed in NYC and the stripper world.

I remeber the dozens of posts when the price to watch the show was increased for holiday weekends and when the pretzels were not as fresh as they could have been even all the complaints about how hard Neo was to understand (like anyone cared about the dancers name) and what about that place I called the "Gaiety apartment". That was an exciting monday morning. (Coopers gray hairs):p

We all had our favorites and the ones who gave us the chance to pee or play pinball, but I bet we can all agree that NYC and the world lost one of the best gay male entertainment places that has ever been.

I feel fortunate to have been able to enjoy the Gaiety and its boys for a few shorts years and for all the Hooville Members I was able to meet but the best part of all is that if it wasnt for Sebastian and Nicholas from Montreal I never would have found Stock Bar.

I was looking for a picture to post but VDN seems to be missing also these days so I found this artice and thought it had a good picture of the stairs that went up to the Gaiety.

As I don't live anywhere near NYC, my trips to the Gaiety were few and far between.

But what I miss most are the detailed weekly reports of each and every act that was very kindly written by a member of this group - and to my shame, I can't for the life of me remember his handle. To the best of my knowledge, after the G closed he quit contributing to this forum. A sad loss IMO.

Hey Taz..Thanks so much for the Reminder of what was Definitely a Great Fun Experience, for those who visited One Time or Basically Hungout at the "G".

The Gaiety was definitely a Piece of NYC History.. Nice Memories for those who were Lucky enuff to catch some of the Acts On and Off Stage!

For some of us St. Patrick's Day will not only be remembered for the parade down 5th Ave. but the closing of the Gaiety. It's been 3 years and still no other NYC strip club comes close to what the G offered.

As Taz mentioned, lots of good memories and friends were made. I'm sure many of us can still recall our 1st time there and where we were when we heard the news that the G had closed.

Many miss the place.

I remember my first venture into the theater. It must have been in the 70's. It was still primarily running male porno films back then. The "guest dancer" was a guy who twirled a fire baton and then proceeded to pass it along his body. I can't recall if he took off his shorts, but it didn't matter, he wasn't my type. He was one of the first male dancers on The Robin Byrd Show.

Eventually, the line up changed to the now infamous status as the hard-on dance capital. Guys used to line up at the stage door as soon as a dancer they fancied finished his turn to capture his attention for a price. The dancers used to bring their patrons backstage to have sex behind the stage. That changed and it became a deal and quick jaunt over to a local hotel, almost alwasy with a warning from the dancer to wait until he got upstairs to the room first.

Friday and Saturday nights were incredible. The place was packed and the regulars showed up every weekend. I think they advertised 12 dancers at midnight.

Many a young man was "recruited" by a Broadway producer or director for a small role in a Broadway production as a result of thei appearance at the Gaiety!

Oh how I long for the good ole days...

I have fond memories of my first trip to the Gaiety. I first met Cooper and Lucky that night. After a great dinner we walked over to the Gaiety and I saw my first male strip show and one young man from Canada really pushed my buttons. Without the advice and help of Cooper I would never have had the nerve or skill set to pick-up the dancer the next night when I went back on my own.

I equally remember the help and good teasing when Cooper, Lucky and I went to Stellas after the show at the Gaiety. I was already feeling empowered from their advice and immediately picked up a guy at Stellas and took him to my hotel a block away.

Cooper and Lucky paid me back for abandoning them.

The next time we went to Stellas a few nights later they both left almost as soon as the dancers started and I was accosted by so many dancing guys rubbing for tips and tricks that I immediately lost my new found nerve and split.

Many, many good memories of both places and the new friends I made.

I love the Gaiety, I just wish I wasn't student at the time so I can afford to go more often. There are always really beautiful guys there and it's always fun to talk to dancers at the lounge. I had a biggest crush on a dancer name Caesar once, last I heard he is married somewhere in the midwest. I met Joey Stefano there before he died. He is a beautiful guy. My time there will always be part of something special. I remember Cats, Show Palace also. Show Palace was awesome, I had sex with a guy behind a curtain, it was amazing. And I have a lap dance at Cats for 30mins for only 20 bucks.....

>zipperzone - you're thinking of the famous NYO, or New York

>Observer. You're right, he was a treasure. Does anyone know

>how he is doing?

Actually he sent me a very gracious e-mail thanking me for mentioning his reports, so I assume he is doing well. He mentioned he still has a great interest in "the scene".

I intend to reply to him over the weekend.

I can't believe that somebody else remembers the Show Palace! I think I spent about five years of my life there.

One time Rod Garetto was performing, and as luck would have it, I was the only one in the audience. Sucked him off -- for free!

If only I could remember the names of the regulars who worked there.

Can anybody help?

Yes, those were the days!

Now, my hotel room window looks down on where it used to be.

Wonder what I will see when I get there in May?

Are there ANY places with a show, that might be a weak substitute?

"you're thinking of the famous NYO, or New York Observer. You're right, he was a treasure. Does anyone know how he is doing?"

the international treasure known as NYO can sometimes be spotted enjoying the naked male flesh in all it's glory at the famous stock bar in montreal. i can imagine he has many a fond memory watching the dancers perform in a bar where many gaiety headliners hailed from.

the rumour that NYO enjoys watching tv in his living room in "his favorite gaiety chair" has yet to be verified.

Hmmmm, where in this timeline did I fit in? I thought it was your first trip but it must have been shortly thereafter surely.

REMEMBER: I taught you how to tip and cop a feel. :-)
