What happened to the dancers and staff of Adonis?

Here's the list:

 

Nico: Went to Taboo the second week after Adonis closed, worked for a few days. Was fired by Joe for having insulted him. Started this week at Campus.

 

Marco: Went to Taboo before Adonis closed.

 

Gustavo: Same thing as Marco, they arrived together in June (he came from Taboo originally).

 

Tyler: Was refused at Taboo, he was one of the first to get fired at the end of summer 2008.

 

Max: Was refused at Taboo, he was actually the first to get fired when Joe took control of his bar in August 2008, but he tried Campus too and was refused as well.

 

Nathan: Went to Toronto in mid-May to film some porn movies. I saw him at Adonis a week before it closed, but he went as a customer.

 

Seven: Has been refused at Campus. I am not sure if he tried Taboo, but told me he would never apply there (he had quit Taboo a week after his buddy Nathan was fired in mid January)

 

Kevin: Went to New York for vacations in late May. Hasn't come back.

 

Eden: Vacations in Mexico since early March.

 

Francis(Mr. Adonis 2008): Eden's boyfriend, was fired in an explosive scene in the backroom of Adonis in mid February. Later went to Mexico with Eden. I saw him at Campus in mid June. Has since stopped working at Campus.

 

Francis: Ditched Taboo in late March, was taken back once Adonis closed.

 

Derek: Same as Francis. But he became Mr. Adonis 2009 on June 18th (he was Mr. Taboo 2007)

 

Pierre-Luc: Rumors stated that this one from the trilogy of Francis-Derek-PierreLuc, had been refused. I saw him at Taboo, but he only started like two weeks after Adonis closed.

 

Ray: This dancer has been forever. Worked (According to him) at Stock, Campus, Remington's. Was accepted at Taboo the first week but was fired a week later for being too old.

 

Nick: Works at Campus.

 

Adrien: Works at Campus.

 

Steph: Currently works at Taboo, but has been trying to get into Campus.

 

Dusty: Fired in early March from Adonis, he worked in the Spring at Taboo, and apparently (thanks to another thread in this forum!!) he is the Ukrainian dancer Sergei at the Boardwalk in Ft. Lauderdale. The last time I saw him he was dancing at Taboo in mid-June.

 

Zack: Works at Campus.

 

Brian: (The new buffed up guy with the military style haircut) He works at Campus as Lucas.

 

Sean: Works at Taboo.

 

Philip / William / David Levasseur: I saw him dancing at Adonis shortly before it closed. I know that the police was looking for him in June (he missed a court date...). They might have found him, because I used to see him all the time on Ste. Catherines and now he is nowhere to be seen.

 

Sonny: Works at Taboo.

 

Leo: Was fired from Adonis in late May. Went to Taboo and injured himself on stage his first night. Came back in late June to Taboo but was refused by Bruno.

 

Mitch: Was fired the same day as Leo, for a related reason. Went to Taboo, eventually became waiter. Was fired last week from Taboo.

 

Ricardo: Went on vacations to his native country in June.

 

Dany: Refused at Taboo. Works in a massage parlor in the Village (as before)

 

Sebastian: Refused at Campus.

 

Julien Cox: Doesn't strip, but I saw him as a customer at Campus last week with his current boyfriend (Pierre-Fitch)

 

The following three: Adonis name/ Taboo name

Yuri/ Yohan: Lean, tall and muscular guy from Ukraine. He quit Taboo in early March. Went to Adonis as Yuri. Now works at Campus as Yuri.

 

Ivan / Sergio: Short athletic Mexican guy who always does the backflip on his stage appearances. Yuri/Yohan's ex-boyfriend. Works currently at Taboo with his best friend Christopher/Sebastian

 

Christopher / Sebastian: Works currently at Taboo with Ivan/Sergio.

 

Angelo: The flavour for all the customers to savour, this guy was fired in late May for being way too kind to his clientele, even without the curtains. He was seen at Taboo in early June. Stopped dancing, I presume that he couldn't make enough money to suit his greed over there (Adonis hadn't closed yet).

 

Gino: Quit dancing for a while (from late March) but I saw him dancing the Saturday before Adonis closed. I would expect him not to be taken at Taboo. He sports long hair now and is rather feminine.

 

Raphael: Stopped dancing in March.

 

Johan: The Quebecker with the scorpion tattooed on his chest, he stopped dancing in April, but has been keeping extremely busy by performing on porno movies in Montreal. Check Juliensboys and Squirtz...

 

Rick: He quit Adonis in May, now works at Stock. He is featured on the front and center (dressed as an Indian chief) of the new flyer promoting Staff Nites (every monday) at Stock Bar.

 

Jonas: Quit stripping in early May. I've seen him in the Village, though.

 

Thomas: Now works at Taboo since June as Luke.

 

 

38 guys that I can remember, thanks to photographs and the chart for the Mr. Adonis 2009 contest...

 

As you can see, the vast majority worked in the last year at Taboo and left for Adonis in the period from August 2008 to March 2009.

 

 

For those of you reading and still wondering "what happened to Taboo??", Joseph de Salvo, an American, owner of 80% of the stock of the company that has Taboo, won a lawsuit that gave him complete control of the Bar in August 2008.

 

He first began a crusade weeding out the girliest and queeniest dancers (reality check: Joe is an effeminate man who likes "masculine guys", Joe originally wanted to buy Campus but it was not for sale...) . This action alienated the customers that liked those feminine guys as well as their dancer friends. He also became paranoid about the staff being loyal to the Canadian owner of the other 20%, Claude Auger. So he began the firings, because in Joe's view, anyone is replaceable, like objects.

 

One problem was couldn't get competent people to run the place, at least for what he was paying... So he first got an ex-dancer called Jason (working at Adonis in the summer 2008) to be "manager" just after Chris left.

 

This turned out to be a complete disaster, nobody respected the schedules and to make matters worse this genius Jason started the Ladies nights in February at Taboo. Dancers left in troves, at a pace that you couldn't replace them. Dances in the back room were raised to $12, eventually to $15 for a short while, and finally returned to the current $12 per song. Taboo then lost it's Video Lottery machines..., ok!! this thing was the result of a new law being passed in Quebec, not Joe's fault, but it was a big blow to Taboo.

 

Jason was eventually fired.

 

Almost all the dancers left Taboo in the period between the second week of January 2009 and March 2009.

 

All the while, Taboo lost almost all it's staff: Patrick(Manager, Summer 2008), Stephane (Manager, Fall 2008) Frank(Manager, late December 2008), Ghyslan (Waiter, December), Chris (bartender, early January 2009), , Antonio(Barman, April), A-King(Waiter-dancer, April), Vince(DJ, April), Shaun (DJ, May), Jay(Barman, May).

 

The only guy remaining was Louie the janitor, and Harry Potter the DJ on Thursdays..., that was until Adonis closed. Now Jerry is back as waiter, Antonio came back as bartender and Vince is DJ!

Has the owner of Taboo changed his goals or procedures? Is he going to return to the policies, ambience, and personnel types of yore?

I don't think that the owner has changed in his ways. He still thinks that he is right in transforming Taboo into something like Campus.

 

The closure of Adonis has indeed brought a second wind to Taboo, as can be evidenced by the return of at least 10 guys. This has only made Joe (the owner) more confident, and he's already fired Ray and Nico.

 

He still hasn't found two suitable managers (Sun-Wed, Thur-Sat; as before!). It is obvious that he can't have a 20-something-year-old masculine top for a manager; or worse, when Joe is in town that he himself is the manager.

 

What Joe needs is to hire a guy in his thirties(not a kid), and not expect free sex from him, as he has with the last two guys (Jason, Bruno). As of now Bruno doesn't have as much authority as he used to, but then again, Joe is currently in town and we'll have to see who gets put in charge when he leaves for New Jersey again.

 

This age comment about the manager is important, Campus, Stock and the Adonis of yore, had experienced dedicated bartenders, DJs, and waiters... They are NEVER expected to dance "in case there is a shortage of dancers", in fact in those clubs there is NEVER A SHORTAGE OF DANCERS!

 

About the dancers, as Joe hasn't changed in his views, he will use those guys from Adonis to get his place going again. The thing is he doesn't want that type of dancer, so he will eventually get rid of them again.

 

Jerry the waiter came back because he is being owed vacation money, and he had only left temporarily. Antonio came back because he wasn't making enough money with one DJ shift at Campus and bartender at Sky for 2 shifts. Now he bartenders at Taboo but hasn't given up the other gigs.

He was working the last weekend Adonis was open. I have never seen him at Campus, and I know he is not working at Taboo now, though I think he could return if things got better at Taboo... Sadly he does not have a cellphone.

He works in a restaurant as a waiter, though far from downtown.
