I stoped in at the 20club for a little while sunday and it seemed quiet. I know a number of dancers there and all were not happy. It seems that the fees are now starting to get to them. Some wont be back, others will stay away for a while. Alot of the dancers can be seen elsewhere now. In brooklyn, Long Island, other clubs in manhattan, or as escorts. Why pay those high drink prices, and the steep fees for the champaigne rooms and get nothing, makes no sense to me. Im hoping the night in brooklyn works well, many of the dancers from club 20 now work there, and its a breath of fresh air to be treated like a customer should be treated. Im hopeing someone will do a male strip place on either a friday or saturday night, even a private event would be better then this sunday thing

Reflections...

Muscleworship... Welcome to the Strip Club Forum. We appreciate all contributors and look forward to reading more from you. From reading your post, I can't decide if you're a dancer, promoter, or patron.

Many of the concerns that you've raised have been discussed before. We all agree that the dancers who work at the 20 Club pay too high of a fee to dance. I believe it's close to $100. Plus, if a dancer uses the champagne room it will cost him even more. That being said, there appears to be no shortage of dancers.

I was at the 20 Club over the Martin Luther King weekend. There were 37 dancers working that Sunday night. The Club was expecting more customers but bad weather and football games seem to have kept people away.

My feelings on dancers complaining about how much money they make is that they should address their concerns to the owner or manager not the paying customers. I always tell people, when you enter a strip club, park your problems at the door, go in, kick back, and enjoy yourself.. As much as I won't burden a dancer with my bills/taxes, etc., I really don't feel he should do the same to me. I'm not there for that reason.

The Club has done things to encourage customers to come early. Cover is $10 before 7 with 2-4-1 drink specials till 7... Lap dances are $20 a song, same as most clubs and, if you choose, champagne room fees range from $120-$150 for 20 minutes of private time. Here again, each dancer has his limits. Always let the dancer know what you're looking for before making that decision.

One problem I see with new male clubs is scheduling. Having a party once every 2 weeks, or to be announced, doesn't help to bring in the regular/steady customers. Hours of operation should also be taken into consideration. When you enter a male strip club, look around and check out the age of your paying customers. At my age, I'm not looking to go to a club that doesn't open it's doors till 10 or 11pm, especially on a week night when I have to get up early the next day.

I agree with you that Friday or Saturday nights might bring in more customers who are interested in this type of entertainment.

In the mean time, let's try supporting the clubs that we have and encourage our friends to join us for a night of pleasurable activities.

I had a feeling it would be bad night at Club20 given that the Jets game was on and many guys were probably glued to the tube for a variety of reasons - among them being watching Mark Sanchez and Peyton Manning go at it...at least in your dreams.

For better or worse, there hasnt' been a lot of new dancers gracing the stage at Club20 since the New Year. While most of the regulars are appealing, it would be good to see some new muscle once in a while. They made an announcement of the upcoming 5th anniversary...hard to believe it's already been that long - but as some might say..."the more things change, the more they stay the same..." which might apply in this case.

I was at Club 20 (as a patron) last Sunday and had a really good time. I am always happy to see my 'regulars' there. I thought there were some promising new hires of the latin muscle variety. Having said that, yes, it appeared that there were fewer patrons than normal but OK ... that can happen occasionally.

I agree that the champagne room fees are very high. However, what happens in there is between you and the stripper - who of course expects a good tip for the services rendered. Let me say that I have not been bored ... :)

Let me also add that I find the management of Club 20 most hospitable and gracious. I am certainly not their 'best' customer, but I have had my entry fee waived and time in the champagne room extended at no additional charge. One night I had 'a little too much' to drink and they got me a cab to make sure I was OK. After I tipped one of the bar tenders well last Sunday, he gave me a free lap dance. I mean, little things like that go a long way.

I have been going to Club 20 since they opened, on and off, but fairly regularly. The management has never been that friendly, and even on the slowest nights, never made any effort to be friendly or go that extra mile. And frankly, I am tired of hearing the dancers complain about how much they're NOT making. And why do they think that's going to make any one want a lap dance or champagne room? Let's face it: Club 20 knows that have a monopoly on the market: If you want to see strippers, they're the only game in town! They do nothing to market it and certainly are not part of NY's gay community in any sense. (An ad in Next Magazine does not count! Especially with a pic of a dancer we haven't seen there in years!!) We can bitch all we want but until there's some real competition, nothing is gonna change!

It sounds like you're not spending enough money there. Club 20, and Las Vegas casinos KNOW how to take care of their spenders .... :)

Previous Managers...

CGFD... Since you've been attending the 20 Club from it's inception, then you'd recall some of the previous managers... Rob, Mark, and Julio were all good guys. They knew your names, made you feel welcomed and appreciated. They would provide you with drinks on the house, comp your cover, and sit down and talk to you. They were all very approachable and friendly... I'm sure the current manager is a good person, just not of the same caliber. However, the friendly bartenders and dancers make up for it.
