SOBE Strip Clubs

Twist on Washington Ave, Score on Lincoln Rd and the Palace Bar on Ocean Dr are the only 3 bars I know of in SOBE that have dancers. There may be other venues in the greater Miami area and certainly in Ft. Lauderdale.

Twist has dancers in it's back bar. A small dark, crowded and hot little area. The dancers are okay, but as my "date' for the evening pointed out, not particularly great. Some of the guys have danced at the 20C in NYC and I am sure they'll be making more trips up north when the new 20C opens.

Score has dancers after 11:30PM.

The Palace bar has dancers only on certain party nights.

Check out this website for additional bars and details on these clubs...

Enjoy!

Twist in Miami

Hey guys, I went to Twist a couple of times when I was in Miami last week. It was decent but most of the guys were straight. I met a guy named Eric who is Cuban and from Miami. He's straight but the hottest guy there with the best body. He told me they do "Gaiety" type strip shows there. I ended up not going as I didn't want to pay the $100 round trip cab fare to get there and then more. He said they did back room stuff but he wouldn't do anymore than bjs. I'm not paying $200 to give anybody just a blow job even if they have a hot body. Sorry, that's not worth it to me, I can give blow jobs to decent guys with big dicks anytime. Anyway, I ended up going to Club Aqua and found a hot latino with a hot bod and great dick who turned me out. If you are looking for a sex club it's pretty decent. Its not the greatest but it suffices. There weren't a whole lot of guys there and they were looking for the perfect body. Alot of them hooked up with a really young twink that serviced most of them. Anyway, I digress. I had a decent time in a place I've never visited before.

Maybe others have had different experiences, but based on my experiences at Twist you were given some bad information. No Gaiety type strip shows and no back room stuff. As far as I know there is no back room period.

Made a mistake

Sorry guys, in my recent post it seemed like I was indicating that they do the strip shows at Twist. That is not correct. For some reason I left out the part that he was talking about Sandals on 79th and Biscayne. Like I said, I didn't go as the cab ride would have been almost as expensive as the "backroom show" itself. Again, I didn't experience that so I don't know if the information I was given is correct or not. I guess that would help to preview my post before I submit. Sorry about that.

They do strip shows at Twist, but whether they are like Gayiety, I cannot say. Twist has a couple of small stages, near the audience. They guys gyrate for 5 minutes or so, then circulate among the audience, allowing caressing and groping for tips. They will ask to do a lap dance in the corner for $20. Most are South American guys, white or mixed, with very nice bodies. Muscular rather than twinks. Most will "escort" but most are straight who don't do much. Some hustle at Twist on nights they are not dancing. It is one of my favorite places, but I think you will get better escorts from rentboy etc.

I went to Twist twice last week......Sunday and Tuesday. Same set-up as previously described. Mostly Latino dancers.....many of them straight (which I prefer frankly). Very hot bodybuilder from Uruguay. His name is Diego and he is someone short but has enormous muscles. Very dense. Drank two bottles of champagne with him on Tuesday. Sunday was not too good as they do a drag show in the patio bar and this interferes with the focus on the dancers. Tuesday was better. I prefer the slower nights of Tue-Thurs. Wish they would do something about the smoking however. I felt like I was in a bar in Madrid.

I haven't been to Miami for over three years now but find it somewhat amazing that they haven't banned smoking in public places like bars and restaurants. Even in Montreal, where I come from, took that step quite a few years ago now and that was terribly controversial. Everyone it seemed said that would be the end of nightlife in Montreal, which is a great party city. Well, that never happened. The party went on, sans smoke!

I wouldn't go in a bar that permitted smoking any more. I used to hate the smell of smoke on my clothes after I left and the irritation to my eyes while I was there was insufferable. I only put up with it years ago because that was the only option anywhere in the world. Now most progressive places ban smoking. I guess Miamians still have to get with the agenda of the 21st century!

If I am not mistaken, the smoking thing is in Miami Beach only. Miami proper (the mainland) banned smoking 5-6 years ago in public places. I was at the bar at Morton's Steak House in Coral Gables (Miami suburb) during my visit and there was no smoking going on. Perhaps Miami Beach has the same thinking as Las Vegas......that banning smoking will hurt tourism. Perhaps someone from Miami can comment on the actual rules and why smoking is allowed inside of Twist.

As an aside, I was in Spain three times this year. Loved the country but was shocked at the smoking culture that existed. 60 year old ladies dressed to kill were puffing away whilst taking afternoon tea at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid. I felt like I had gone back 10-20 years in time. The bars were worse.......all clothing stank of cigarette smoke. Really offputting.

Florida law bans smoking in all restaurants and public buildings, but it excludes bars/clubs. If a bar or club makes 10% or more of its proceeds from food, then it must also ban smoking inside. The bar/club can then have smoking on the outdoor patio. An example is the Alibi in Wilton Manors (FtL). The Alibi is non-smoking inside, but has smoking outside on the patio because it takes in more than 10% of its proceeds from food.

As is the case in CA, the smoking ban at The Alibi has not hurt their business as many bar owners had mistakenly predicted for years. The other non-smoking bar in Wilton Manors is Maddys on the Drive. It's so crowded on weekend evenings, it's hard to park or move around inside.

I have never noticed the smoking at the Bungalow Bar in Twist, which is where the strippers are. It opens to the out doors on, I think, two sides, so any smoke moves out quickly.

Well I was at Twist again this week of Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Tuesday was a total bust. It was about 40 degrees F outside and the heating in the bungalow bar could not keep pace with the cold weather. Some dancers were wearing jackets during their dance. There were few customers or dancers there. I stayed for less than an hour and left.

Wednesday was much better as the low that evening was about 50F. Bungalow bar was very comfortable (except for the smoke). Quite a few new dancers and a few I knew from before. Still mostly latino with a smattering of white and black guys. One or two russians, and one Italian. I spent most of the evening drinking champers and chatting with one of my favorites. We have a "date" next week when I return to Miami on Tuesday.

Visited Twist again last night. Somewhat chilly (temp was about 46 F). Good crowd but not packed. Some dancers I had seen previously from Mexico, Italy, Russia, and Uruguay. A few new ones from various places including Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Fairly low key evening. I hung out with one or two of the dancers most of the night. A number of muscled numbers came in later and they were not dancing that night but had their shirts off........ I assume were making themselves available to any punters. I didn't speak with any of them as I was busy talking with the guys I was hanging with.

I stay in Miami until Sunday although I am now moving to a hotel in Coral Gables. I might go to Twist tonight but not on Friday or Saturday. I really don't like it there when it is wall to wall people. Temperatures are warming up and the low tonight is supposed to be 57 F which is much more tolerable. Finally it feels like Florida!
