Hi all:

(I first posted this in the deli, but this probably is the better site)

Maybe someone out there has a suggestion. I have an old Mac laptop, a 3400, OS9 or earlier, that I spilled water on and ruined about eight years ago. I tried to have the local guys recover the hard drive while I waited. They couldn't, and I didn't want to leave it, because the thing had a sizable gay porn collection on it. I don't care about the porn - replaced with more and better - but there is also old family correspondence and other irreplaceable stuff I'd rather not lose. But you can see why I don't want to just turn it over to the Geek Squad at Best Buy.

So, before this thing goes to the E-waste pickup, or the Smithsonian, anyone know of a gay-friendly computer type in the Los Angeles area who might help? BTW, to the best of my recollection there's nothing illegal, underage or weird on it, though most of the stuff predates current federal regs. Just gay men pix and movie clips.

Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance!

I understand you, and now in the age of identity theft it is always best to "worry" about stuff on your PC. I don't know any gay friendly stuff off the top of my head.... but I do remember a few ads in the Los Angeles Frontiers about PC repair, and I know there is one guy off of Fountain and Fairfax that does computer stuff as well (lol one of my friend lives by his sign lol). Good luck

If not here is a yelp listing for you of West Hollywood Adjacent stuff.

Thanks!!

Many thanks to both responders. Am reassured about the Geek Squad guys, but will definitely check out yelp, Frontiers and the guy at Fountain and Fairfax! Cheers, Dave.
