Does anyone know what happened with the Adonis private party that was scheduled for Saturday night September 10th? I stopped by the building where it was supposed to be around 10 or 10:30pm and as I approached the entrance, was asked by a plainclothes police officer "can I help you?" I said simply that I was there to attend a party, and when he mentioned the floor I was supposed to go to, he said " you don't want to go up there". I asked if the party had been cancelled and he said "yeah, it was cancelled," but his tone indicated that it was much more than that. All I can say at this point is I hope everyone is okay.

Amazes me how on the weekend of 9/11, the city might waste precious law enforcement resources on a private stripper party.

I apologize for making this short, but it's been a long disappointing evening for everyone I'm sure...

Everything is fine. Before wild stories begin, of which I've heard many already, I'll set the record straight.

The current tenant who I sublet from was in the process of, or had been evicted this week. He was not supposed to be on the premises. Obviously I was not informed of this before this evening's event when he granted me entry w/ his keys. Quite simply the landlord was called by someone in the building to let him know the space was in use. He called the police. Essentially we got caught in the middle of a rent dispute and were not made aware of all the facts beforehand. There was no raid, in fact the NYPD was very courteous in allowing me to shut down and vacate the premises without ever stepping foot inside or speaking to a single customer or dancer. They seemed quite disinterested in the whole thing to tell you the truth.

I apologize to both the customers and dancers who were unfortunate enough to get stuck in the middle of this nonsense. Thank you also to my many friends, customers, and dancers who reached out to make sure everything was alright and offer support. And thank you to Verizon for allowing me unlimited txt messages, as lord knows I needed it tonight!

I was forced to rush everyone out rather abruptly before being able to return everyone's admission. The dancers waited, naturally...Anyone in attendance is entitled to a full refund or credit to a future event, less the food you consumed. Just kidding...Email me and we'll figure it all out.

We'll be back next month and I'll make sure we're not squatters! Thank you for all the support the last 2 years that make producing all these Adonis events fun and truly rewarding on so many levels, even when adversity strikes like this evening.

Thank goodness. I was concerned that something more serious had occurred. Glad to hear that you and the dancers are okay.

In NYC, tenant/landlord disputes are handled by the housing court, not by the police. If a tenant is evicted pursuant to an order by the housing court, this is handled by the sherrif's department and not by the police. While I am glad that no harm was done and that the show will go on, I am not buying the story.

But if the eviction had already occurred, then the sheriff's involvement might have been a moot point. If the landlord called to report a criminal trespass, then that is something that the police would, in fact, handle. Not saying I know any more than you do, since neither of us was there, but the story does lend itself to more than one conclusion.

One of the tenants, or the landlord, could have called the cops for a noise violation if it occurred after 11:00 p.m. But the police don't get involved in 'rent disputes', as was stated. That doesn't happen in NYC. Regardless of what the reasons are, it's a shame. Wish Tim and the dancers all the best.

Wow, not a single respondant mentioned the feelings or well being of the humiliated customers in attnedance. Way to go guys.....

Well, I was almost one of those customers, had the police officer not told me to stay away. He was very discreet and chose not to embarass me on the public street, as it was obvious what I was there for. Makes me more inclined to believe Tim's version of events, but who really knows. And since I was there before 10:30pm, I think we can rule out a noise complaint, if BaronArtz is correct that those are only for after 11pm. I didn't see any other customers (actual or potential). If Tim is correct that the cops let him shut down the party on his own, then the only embarassment would have been as they exited fully clothed and saw the cops who kinda knew or suspected that Bible study wasn't exactly the subject of the evening's festivities. All in all, I think things turned out as well as could be expected under the circumstances (at least I hope they did).

There were only 2 or 3 uniformed police officers. They never entered the premises. They were standing in the open elevator and the customers exited down the staircase. There were no other officers downstairs either in the lobby or in front of the building. It appeared that the officers were not concerned about what type of event was going on inside. If it had been a raid there would have been more officers and they would have pushed into the premises.People were not rushed out of the place like a herd of cattle. Some finished their drinks and used the restroom before they left. There, now you have a firsthand report so don't spread rumors

As someone who was ACTUALLY THERE (unlike everyone else who seems to be posting an opinion as fact), I can say a couple of things:

the police showed NO concern for who was there or what was going on inside; their only concern seemed to be that there were people on a floor that was supposed to be empty (according to the building owner who contacted them; further, they were cordial as people were leaving and expressed nothing that could remotely be construed as either offensive or homophobic; none of the folks I was with, or spoke with as we were leaving, had any hard feelings about the incident or Tim.

I for one would certainly return to another event. And from what I overheard, Tim's account of the incident seems quite accurate. And obviously, if it involved anything other than what he said, WE'D HAVE KNOWN IT!!!

I don't understand JJKRKWOOD's comment about "mentioning the feelings or well being of the humiliated customers" - WHO WAS HUMILIATED? WHO'S WELL BEING WAS EVER IN JEOPARDY? NO ONE I SAW!!

BARONARTZ, who I assume wasn't there either, talks about Housing Court! This is a commercial property - it is outside the purview of Housing Court! And there was no dispute -- Hey, it's not like we were "squatters" -- The only person at blame here is the original tenant who sublet to Tim and didn't tell him there might be a problem. If you want to mad at someone, find him!!

On a moment of personal privilege -- I find it so annoying that the same people who bemoan the lose of venues around NYC (and beyond) and complain there's no place to go, are the first to try and stir shit and create problems where none exist. If you want one more place to disappear, keep up the negativity!

My two cents. No need to respond.

I arrived about 10:30 and the guy at the front door with a grey PBA shirt said everyone was taken to Rikers Island. He thought it was funny.

Geoffk, you just posted in another thread that you were in Atlantic City Saturday nite feeling some male dancers hard cock. So now, tell us, WHERE were you really ? Home watching porn and jerking off ????

Thanks Tim for clearing up this matter... It couldn't have been more than a few minutes after the NYPD arrived at your location that some in attendance were texting their friends that the event got "raided". That false rumor spread quickly and all the way to Montreal. Glad to know it was just a rumor and that the NYPD presence was nothing more than a lease dispute. Shit happens, not your fault.

Wishing you continued success at the 20C and Adonis/Evolve... Nice to read some very supportive and informative replies from LIguy and CGFD. Thanks guys!

I was in AC on Friday night and went to NYC on Saturday night - WHERE ARE YOU? IS THAT SO HARD TO BELIEVE THAT I COULD BE IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES ON TWO DIFFERENT NIGHTS? Manhattan and AC are 2.5 hours apart and I live in the middle. Why do you think i would lie about being in both places? Or do you just stir up trouble?

(I went back and re-read my other post. I mis-posted there, as I was in AC on Friday not Saturday)
