Just four weeks from now, you could experience the thrill of a lifetime.

Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 are the dates for the greatest and largest art fair in the world -

the joint meetings of Art / Basel / Miami Beach and

Art / Miami.

More than 500 major art galleries from all over the world, including Paris, London, New York, Rome, Madrid, Beijing, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Miami, etc. will bring their choicest pieces of 20th century art to show and try to sell. Last year it was estimated that $500 milion of art was gathered in South Florida. The Art / Basel / Miami Beach attracts almost 300 galleries and at the same time, on the other side of Biscayne Bay, in Miami, another 200 galleries gather to display their art at Art / Miami . There is nothing like it anyplace else in the world.

And to top it all off, after enjoying magnificent art all day long, you can then go to the all-nude male stripper bar Swinging Richard's in North Miami and celebrate until 6:00 a.m. Maybe it is too much sensory delight in 24 hours.

While Motherwell and others produced huge works to be purchased by and shown in museums, they produced large quantities of art of a size appropriate for condos and houses. You can see this art work, which is the vast majority of an artist's oeuvre, only at art fairs. Last year there were magnificent examples by Rothko, Kline, Warhol, Motherwell, Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, Damien Hirst, Francis Bacon, David Hockney, and hundreds of others. You can see more Andy Warhol prints here than in any museum in the world. No ten museums together can rival the collection of modern ( = 20th century) art which you will see here.

So enjoy the best and most art anywhere from 11:00 to 6:00, then have dinner at one of the outdoor cafes along Lincoln Road or in one of the hotels along the ocean, and then drive up the short distance on Biscayne Boulevard to 17450 and enjoy Swinging Richard's. Or drive a few miles further north on I 95 and enjoy Johnny's and Boardwalk in Fort Lauderdale. Johnny's in Miami is only a few blocks from Art / Miami. No other cities in the world can offer so much pleasure of such variety in such a small space.

ART Basel sounds intriguing...but inquiring minds and crotches really want to know what's the scoop on Swinging Richards NEW S. Florida Club ??! Please tell us you made time to sneak a PEEK !

P.S. - This Halloween rain/snow storm today is giving many of us in the Northeast a case of cabin fever / I can only imagine how much better it must be in Miami...
