After Glo In Tampa

Just read on Helix Studios model Derek Porter's twitter (http://twitter.yfrog.com/z/obhgbcrj) that he is doing dances at some place called "After Glo" in Tampa. Looks by the address to be the old location of Liquid Lounge. Anyone been in?

Yep, I usually stop in Fri. & Sat. to see who's dancing before I head around the corner to the new Liquid Lounge & Bradley's. Just checked your link....I saw him there this past weekend. I've never heard of him, though...guess I'm out of the loop. The "club" has had a serious decline in business since Liquid opened in its new location, however that has worked to my advantage when there's a dancer who interests me.

No cover charge and they still have the curtained area for lap dances @ $25 (I believe $5 goes to the bartender).

 

Speaking of the new Liquid Lounge, they have some new dancers....definitely worth checking out. There are semi private lap dance areas upstairs & I've...um.....heard that some fun can be had up there. One of the owners said he wants to redo the upstairs to make more lap dance areas, hire more dancers & make the upstairs what the old Liquid used to be. FYI Liquid has a $5 cover after 10:00 on Thurs. and after 11:00 on Fri. Starting last weekend there is no cover for over 21 on Saturdays.

Thanks for the heads up on Liquid... I could never get a read on that place. It's unlike any other strip club... there's a full dance floor with "regular" club go'ers... (not just us pervs looking for strippers! haha

 

I went on a Friday night a few weeks back and it was Latin night.. no feeling like it was a strip club at all. There were a few guys dancing, but the "private dance" culture didn't seem to exist.

 

I saw the upstairs area, but when I went, nobody used it. The dancers were just getting tips on the podium, but I didn't see anything beyond that.

I wasn't sure about Liquid & felt the same as you the first couple times I stopped in. I know one of the dancers pretty well (he's short, latino, very friendly) he used to dance at the old Liquid & also at the three nude events at Club Skin. He's the one who showed me up to the lap dance areas, they're the two side balconies overlooking the dance floor. After spending time up there with him, I went back downstairs & initiated contact with one or two other dancers & they suggested lap dances to me.

 

(And just between you & me, one of the owners knows me from the old Liquid & it's a little embarrassing, but in his clubs & at other special events he has actually brought dancers over & introduced them to me, telling them that I enjoy a good lap dance.) If you ever want to meet for a drink, let me know....I might even be able to help with introductions, lol.

There was a stunning guy when I was there... had a tat on his right chest/shoulder area I believe. Just totally hot... nice bod, beautiful face. Had I known fun could have been had, I would have had it! I'll shoot you a message in a moment!

I agree with the new Liquid place too. So when are dancers there? I've stopped in on Wednesdays and Thursday, but nothing seemed to be happening. I've never stayed long to find out more.

I went that week on a Friday and Saturday. Friday was Latin night and there were only a couple dancers. Saturday had many, but again, with all the club go'ers dancing on the floor, it didn't strike me as a Boardwalk/Johnnys type of place, so I didn't investigate further.

well i'm going to be in tampa next week , wed, thurs, friday, i may try out city side on wednesday, says they have strippers, thursday i will probably head down to flamingo in st pete, to the code bar that was fun in august, and on friday to honey pot on friday.

Where's the Cityside bar? Are the dancers just eye candy or do they have private dances? Same question about Code Bar. Don't think Ive seen anyone reference it on here.

I've never heard of dancers at Cityside. I see in their ad that they have a talent contest on Wed. & I believe the ad suggests talents : drag, strip, sing, dance. That's how I read it:

I've talked to guys who go to Cityside & no one has ever mentioned dancers. I could be wrong, but I try to stay on top of all go go boy venues in this area.

I don't know about City Side, I have not been there, but there isnt much happening on Wednesday that I know of so I thought I would ck it out. I have been to the code bar and while there arent any private dances the dancers will get up close & personal.

Interesting. I popped by After Glo this weekend. There were a couple cute guys but it was pretty quiet. This place could become something... they definitely are recruiting better. The last time I was there when it was Liquid Lounge, the 'talent' was a little rough. Derrick Porter (the Helix guy) and another cute twink had my full attention! The private dance situation is odd... they don't have booths or a room or upstairs. You literally sit in the front window area as if you were a department store display lol. They do pull the curtains though so you do have privacy. Just seems weird for THAT to be where you get your dance... right next to the entrance... just inches from all the drunken Ybor passersby on the street. lol If I understood the bartender correctly, dances are 3 songs for $25 ($5 goes to the house). That's freakin' CHEAP!

Yes it was very quiet during the week last week here. I didnt go to city side since i must have mis-read their ad, and the only strippers could be those doing the talent contest. I spent some time at after-glo on wednesday night but the guys must have bolted at midnight. so i went for pizza. on thursday went to code at the flamingo, it wasnt too busy there except for Rich who is always friendly to me, there was another dancer Hunter, supposedly a porn actor, but he spent the whole night with some guy he was with, never circled the bar that i saw, on Friday went to Honey Pot and had a bunch of fun with Josh, Jared and Alex. NO pirivate area here but some close up time was enjoyed.

there's no private dance area at code, although it's a hotel/motel/resort, i'm sure you can probably find a place if so inclined.

Was driving through Tampa last night so I thought I'd drop in to see what's going on at After Glo. Doors were closed, no lights. Curtain pulled over the window. Gone already? 11pm/midnight on a Thursday is jumpin' in Ybor. Got to see a few cute guys though at the amateur strip contest at Bradley's at least.

After Glo was closed Fri. night, too. In Liquid, one of the After Glo dancers spotted me & said the owner had closed for a few days of remodeling without letting the employees know. It's supposed to reopen tonight in time for Guavaween. I can't imagine what remodeling is being done since the place is the size of a wide hallway. I have a feeling that since business has been so poor there lately, the owner may be changing from a "dancer" bar with the lap dance area to some other type of establishment.

I won't be in ybor tonight to find out, so I'll wait and see.....

Well, stick a fork in After Glo. The party's over. It's now a straight bar/liquor store. Walked by last night and popped in for a minute... walked right back out after seeing straight thuggy looking dudes and a chick dancing. Talked to someone in one of the bars around the corner. Apparently the dancers were fired and it's a done deal. Ah well!

Yeah they really didn't even try to market the place. Had I known it was there, I'd have gone fairly often. The blond guy was smokin' hot. But there was only one other guy there that was on that level... and besides those 2, I don't think they had more than 2 or 3 others even on the roster. I never read about the place on here or in the gay rags... and it was always deserted. Too bad.

So I finally spent some serious time at Liquid this weekend. It's not nearly as much of a stripper bar as anything in Fort Lauderdale. It's a hybrid dance club / strip bar. It's kind of weird. But there were about 8 dancers roaming around. 2 stunners. The private dance area is indeed up in the balcony of the club... but there are no curtains. But there's also no lighting. So you do see that there are 2 people up there, but you are under the club lights on the floor so you really don't see what's going on so much. It's just an odd place. One dancer quoted $20 a song.

I was at Honey Pot on Friday and at the end of the night a dancer, Alex came in and told me he was at Liquid. Sorry i missed him there, bc even though he isnt the buffest guy around he certainly is fun enough to spend some time with.
