Every charitable or issue-oriented organization in the country has apparently been informed by snitches (Amazon? Google? Homeland Security?) that my spouse and I don't have any individuals to whom we give Xmas gifts, so they all write to us at this time of year asking us to send donations to them instead, which we usually do to several of them. This year we held back a little money and gave ourselves an indulgent three nights at a luxury inn and spa in the Santa Barbara county wine country. It was delightful.
