RE: I do believe in Faries. I do. I do.

God bless Mary Martin for first making me aware of the joys of "Peter

Pan." I agree, the new movie is a joy!

I have to say that is pretty funny Lucky (I am probably your only fan :)here). Though I do plan to see the film too.

Besides, I always wanted to find out what Neverland was all about .. and since I'm too old for Michael, well .... :p

Saw it tonight - quite a fun movie! =o) I don't think I've ever seen a Peter Pan movie or read the story (though I knew quite a bit about it simply through modern culture), so it was neat to finally see a movie based on it, and this seems to be a good one.

As to the other comments, I do happen to find the idea of a magic flying boy (albeit older) sexy - lol. I thought the boy who played Peter Pan did a great job (especially his smirk). He may be quite the Hollywood hearthrob when he's a bit older - lol.

OK. I'm not familiar with this movie. How old is the guy who played Peter Pan, whom everyone seems to be talking about?

If you want another take on "Neverland", look for the newly-released DVD by that name, which features a "new age" version of the classic JM Barrie novel. In this one, Neverland is a fading suburban amusement park, inhabited by a bunch of runaway pretty teen boys led by the charasmatic cute and hunky Peter Pan, helped by a punkish Tinkerbelle who favors t-shirts that say "Fuck Off" and talks like a longshoreman, a Native-American drag queen who likes to pass around the ceremonial bong, and threatened by the park janitor who dresses like a pirate and has an all-gay maintence crew, a private dungeon, and salivates over forcing Peter Pan to be one of his "cabin boys." It is a HOOT! :)

Pure projection. (Sorry the pun.) But the anxieties of the righties are as usual a good bellwether for what we should rush out and see.

I want to be careful how I say this, but this is the way I see it, so here goes. Be warned there are some very basic things said about the movie Peter Pan (slight spoilers), but no big ones if you know the basic story.

I remember one review saying the reviewer felt like a pedophile for watching this film, and I can't help but feel a swell of pity for that reviewer. I simply can't understand seeing this film as dirty.

As some reviews mentioned, there ARE moments of sexual tension in the film between young Peter Pan and Wendy. And he is wearing a somewhat revealing outfit (mainly his torso/chest and some of his legs).

But seriously, it's not at all overtly sexual. It IS sensual but still innocent, and I find that sweet and, yes, sexy in a way, but not in a dirty way.

Sensuality and even sexuality between people under the age of consent is certainly nothing new, and I don't feel there's anything wrong portraying it if done carefully. Frankly, I don't even think this film goes past sensuality, so I think saying it goes against family values is rather preoposterous.

Just my own two cents.

God, I love this place. It's the only place I know of on the Internet where you can come and see old men oogling over the sexual attractiveness of 15 year-old boys - and comparing them to their favorite teenaged prostitutes - while not realizing that there's the slightest thing wrong with it! Awesome!

Oops - make that oogling over the sexual attractiveness of 14 year-old boys - "He is almost 15."

hehe, Doug. I love this place too. It is the only place where you can say that someone "looks" like someone would have at that age and get accused of "oggling." And it is also neat that a "retired" escort who has already completed his graduate degree can be called a favorite teenage prositute! And it is REALLY neat that you can see old men hijack threads and twist the words of others just to stir up controversy - while not realizing that there's the slightest thing wrong with it! Awesome!

When the person you're physically comparing a 14 year-old boy to is a prostitute whom you repeatedly hired when he was 18 and 19 - in the midst of a thread where multiple people are talking about how "hot" that 14 year-old boy is "going to" be and making overt references to the sexual energy he oozed in the movie - I don't think it takes much creativity to observe that old men are sexually oogling this 14 year-old boy.

And it is also neat

>that a "retired" escort who has already completed his graduate

Now that you don't use him any more because he's "retired," he is older. But when you were digging into him, he was 18 and 19.

And it is

I am sure that you do hate it whenever people intrude into your sexualizing of adolescent boys in order to point out how disturbing and deranged it is. And the fact you believe someone would do this "just to stir up controversy" - rather than becasue it is truly disturbing and grotesque - says more about what you are doing than any words I could ever write.
