It would be my impression that attempting to fly in the US on false identification would:

1. Be discovered.

2. Land you in a world of trouble. The feds are extremely serious about everything connected with air travel these days. I would think that flying on false documents would likely lead to a large fine and possible imprisonment. And I'm not exaggerating.

He's not exaggerating if you're discovered. I presume someone else would be buying a ticket in the name you give him and your only use of the ID would be in identifying yourself to the airline as the ticketholder. I am not aware that airlines have access to the databases necessary to verify the authenticity of a driver license, although that may have changed.

I am not clear on why it is necessary for you to fly under a false name or give a false name to the producer of the video. Why not simply ask him to list you under a false name in the video credits, which is quite routine? If you don't trust the producer enough to believe that he'll keep your personal information confidential from casual inquiries you probably shouldn't do the video at all.

A far better soultion than the one that you are contemplating is to have the producer simply insert a clause in your contract agreeing that he will not use or disclose your real name in any way or for any reason, and that only some agreed-upon fake name will be used in connection with the video. Such a clause is quite common in video contracts.

Video producers have no incentive to disclose your real name if you don't want it disclosed, especially if you have a contract clause prohibiting that disclosure. One of the most difficult challenges for video producers is finding "talent." If it is known that certain producers can't be trusted - especially with something like your real name - nobody will work with them. They have every incentive to honor their commitment to you.

In any event, whatever risk you think exists from the producer knowing your real name is vastly outweighed by the risk of using fake ID's to fly. While it may be the case that the risk is low that the airlines will uncover this, the consquences are so great that I can't fathom why you'd want to subject yourself to that rather than just have the producer agree not to use your real name in any way.

Use your real ID for the video shoot, but give them a "stage name" to use in the video credits. It's what everyone else does.

If the studio discovers you're using a fake ID, they won't use you.

(That's what caused the Jeff Browning kiddie porn fiasco. The kid produced ID showing himself of age, and after 3 years in the industry threw himself a VERY public 18th birthday party at a WeHo club.)

The purpose of showing ID to the video producers is to prove you're of age and nothing more. Call yourself Wilma if you want, and that's what they'll use on the box.

Anyone have any advice on obtaining a fake driver's license? I have an opportunity to be in a adult video (not a major studio but what the hell) but do not want to use my real name. I know they will ask for identification and the studio will also need my real name to book airfare. Are fake licenses even possible these days of Homeland Security? Are there other ways around my dilemma? Am I totally jacked up?

I see a couple of problems using a fake ID. The first is with the airlines. All travelers have a color code assigned to their name which indicates potential terror threat. A first-time adult traveler without credit card info on file and a fictitious address would certainly raise the red flags. Plus, although TSA employees aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, I think they (or the airline employees) are trained to spot fake IDs.

A second major concern is payment from the studio. I'm sure they report all earnings to the IRS and it wouldn't be enough for you just provide ID. You'd have to have the correct Social Security info for the name on your license. Getting fake ID and SSN is not that simple. Plus, if you get caught you're eligible for the 10/10 Club ($10,000 fine and 10 years in federal prison). Do you like the thoughts of being a prison bitch? ;-)

Another problem is more and more airlines try to force you into using their automated check in system. I doubt your fake ID would have working magstripe for that name, and you wouldn't have any credit cards in that name to identify you either. There are even better reasons below.

All of the above advice is very salient, follow it!

I was in a liquor store just today, the kid ahead was asked for ID - "I forgot it, guess I'll come back later" b.s. was spewed. In speaking with the cashier, they even have a magstrip 'swiper' at BevMovs to verify any states ID's.

BigBro is looking - don't get yourself in a jam over this.

Reading magstripe to check age...

Some bars and stores are getting these readers for free. What does the person paying for the equipment get? The list, including your name, address, and which places you visit for a drink...

Even worse then big brother, corporate America is watching! So you may want to think twice about allowing them to swipe you in...

RE: That ol' ID shot

Some years ago I purchased a tickling video from an online site. The video, despite it's promise on the stills, was quite dreadful. But, the most dreadful thing was that the maker of said video, at the end of the shoot, included a zoom-in shot of the "subject" holding up his NY state driver's license, with real name and address for all the world to see. A mistake, probably, and I alerted the maker of the vido to this error immediately. I can only assume that it was edited, and future buyers did not see the young man's identification.

Food for thought... on low budget videos, make damn sure you see the final edit before it's distributed!
