First Craig's List Experience

After reading several of the posts here about CL I decided to give it a try. I answered a few ads without response. I'm not the most desirable partner on the planet. I decided to post my own trying to target the various type of guys who I enjoy to date.

 

The replies to my post, in the M4M section of Los Angeles, were pretty much on target. I filtered out a few that sounded shaky and settled on an Asian guy 25 5'7" 140 pounds.

 

He arrived at my place in OC timely and was very friendly. He's in his last year at UCLA majoring in business. When we headed to my bedroom he was completely dedicated to having fun.

 

What a refreshing change from some of the professional escorts that I've hired. He wasn't as slick and business like as they usually are. I felt as if I had a friend visiting for a few hours.

 

I paid him and he actually gave me back the majority of the agreed upon fee. He kept $40. to cover gas and to get something to eat on the way home. I was a little surprised by this and even though I insisted he keep the money he politely declined. I didn't want to insult him by pressing the issue further. We gave each other a hug and off he went.

 

I understand that the young man tonight is probably the exception rather than the rule but I have an appointment set with another guy for tomorrow. Hopefully he will be just as much enjoyment.

I've used craigslist on and off about a year. If you take your time and do a little research on the guys you are gonna hook up with you shouldn't have any problems. I found when I acted too quick, like head now or whatever that usually led to a problem child to deal with. I thinkJames ran into one of these a few weeks ago ending up driving him all over Los Angeles.

 

Just use common sense and you should minimize your risk of getting a flake.

Yep, the funny thing was it wasn't even a paid encounter, though he was a little hustler he didn't get anything out of it other then wasting almost two hours of my time and 1/3rd tank of gas...

 

As for the 'paid encounters', Parks is absolutely right. You will not find somebody on CL worth $400 IMHO, it's just not a place for people as perfect/professional as Kristian or Bobby.

 

But BlueSpark is absolutely right, sometimes you find and incredibly hot guy and you both have an amazing time, unfortunately that lack of professional drive may mean each repeat is a little less, but it's awesome while it lasts.

 

I think you'll have more fun for $80-150 on CL then many on Hoo Boy's (especially at the lower end of the price scale), because on CL (LA) most guys are just starting, making a little extra cash with it/aren't planning on escorting as a regular source of income. If they finally get posted here (especially with how long it can take sometimes) the freshness has gone, they may have had a bad experience or two that jaded the less professional, and they're "working", not playing around for a little extra cash/trying something new.

JK - you forgot to mention Steven and btw I am still waiting for you to hire Kristian or have you hire him yet and don't want to share your experience.

 

BS - I am glad that you had a very good experience from CL. Maybe someday I will put or answer and ad from CL but for now I am just a lurker.

A point of clarification about professional escorts and young men from Craig's List. The majority of the time I hire, regardless of the source I'm looking for satisfaction not company.

 

The young man I met last night gave me complete satisfacton. If I were interested in company, along with satisfaction, I would have chosen a professional escort.

 

Barr I hope that you'll give Craig's List a try. The entire process was easier than I anticipated and the result was great.

I hate when companies hide their web sites with weird URLs that have nothing to do with their names. Yahoo, Amazon, and CNN do the same thing - to name just a few - and I hate it. It gets so confusing.

All the accolades must be about CL in LA, as I have not seen ANYTHING on CL WDC that would justify such accolades! Based on the DC portion, IMO, CL is just an acronym for CLUELESS LOSERS!

You can find clueless losers anywhere, babe.

 

CL is pretty good in LA, SF and Chicago but it's only as good as contributors *anywhere*, just like this site.

 

DC is not exactly known as a fabulous town for escorts to begin with, so why would the low-end or "entry level" part-timers be any more stellar?

Yes, all my raves are solely about CL LA, I've looked at Las Vegas and the one nearest my hometown, Vegas is pretty slow (and the few people in it seem especially flakey from what a friend who tried it last time he was there said) and the other may as well not exist.

 

Maybe they'll pick up eventually. SF is the most active, anybody have an opinion on the quality of CL New York? Outside those four or so cities it's not (yet?) what we're raving about in here.

 

Other then people reading the thread I don't see how links to CL would cost HB anything, the second you click the link it's completely outside of Hoo's bandwidth, there's no forwarding 'cost'. If he was going to get antsy about links to other outlets competing for his content I'd think it'd be against places like rentboys and men4rentnow. I'm guessing he'll speak up if he has a problem...

Maybe it's beginners luck but I has another amazing experience this evening with a young man I met on Craig's List. Tonight I met a 24 year old who was of mix origina (Latino & White).

 

He was very easy to talk with, intelligent and very affectionate. Probably more intimate than I tradionally experience. I had such a great time that I'll being seeing him again.

 

The fee for his time was extremely reasonable. He didn't seem to mind driving from Echo Park to my Orange County residence and unlike many of the professional escorts he didn't ask for a travel fee.

 

All in all a well balanced evening of conversation and more with this transplanted New Yorker.

Not very funny, Doug. I had posted a reply yesterday to yours, but somehow it went into hyperspace. I did find a Craig's List web site. But I wasn't sure it was THE Craig's List site. You have to click on a city before you realize there is an M4M section. You wouldn't know it from the Homepage. I had also listed the URL and asked people to tell me if that was not correct. Most of us know about search engines, despite the mistaken condescending notion by a few people in this thread that they are the only ones who do.

Craig's List is a big pain in the ass. I first tried it last year for hooking up and it seems that 75% of the responses didn't read my ad at all. I think I was only able to connect with one guy - another top, but I invited a bottom I knew to join us so it worked out okay.

 

I also ran a couple of escort postings and I was trying to not be too obvious, but it seemed to confuse the guys who responded. The ones that were serious seem to think that Craig's List is the equivalent of an Outlet Mall for escorts. ("$200? How about$100 and a DVD?")

That really kind of is the perfect description for it...

 

I've noticed even the women's prices have been coming down lately and in LA at least guys usually ask for $150 or less (especially lately). It's not so much a replacement for Hoo's or rentboys etc., as for places like what Hunter's has been described as, where guys can pick up some extra cash, pros can work it too (a bit like Numbers) but may not be competitive enough for the regulars. Sorry if that makes no sense to people not familiar with the former LA hustler-bar scene of legend (I missed it myself but everybody who's been around longer then I have raves about it...).

 

As for the apparent illiterates that respond to the non-paid (paid too probably...) hookup ads, yep, there is a lot of chaff to separate out sometimes, but it does work eventually, sometimes surprisingly well, and it's *free*.
