Opening Thread to First Post Instead of Last

Since we switched to the new format when I open a thread it goes to the last post. Is there a way to open a thread at the first post? Even better, if I've never opened the thread it goes to the first post but I've previously read it goes to the last post?

I read the forum via the 'New Posts' tab on the 'Forum' bar. From there it goes to the first post on the thread that I haven't read.

I haven't seen this behavior.

 

If I've opened the thread before, it opens on the first unread message.

 

(If that message is the last message, then that's where the thread opens.)

 

Is that different from what you're seeing?

If I open I thread I have never opened before it goes to the last post not the first post.
