Decreased activity on this site?

Is it just my imagination or has there been a decline in the number of postings of late?

 

Could it be that after the whirlwind posting by KY_TOP everything else seems insignificant in comparison?

 

Have the postings just been less interesting and hence a reduction in the number of responses?

 

Could it be related to a time of the year when there is a transition back to a more structured work schedule?

 

Is it possible that people are migrating to the “other” site?

 

Or is it faulty perception on my part and indeed just my imagination…

i believe you are correct. after the "shut down", posting levels never came back. also, the closing of the gaiety ended alot of postings and activity on this site. the "politics" forum sort of wore itself out with people yelling past each other and lots of name calling rather than any kind of reasoned debate.

 

i still come for the daily postings of reviews and recently found an addition to the escorts i hire with benton astor (i did a review of him as well); i have written down the names of some of the new escorts who have made the "escort of the day list" for future use(nick tettriano from 9-14 tops my current list for when i get back to new york and jake from 9-7 in chicago looks fabulous, too).

 

as long as people keep posting reviews, i think the site may get back to its former volume.

Thisis the time of year when Internet use increases after the slower summer months. Yet I too noticed that there are less posts than even a few weeks ago.

 

If you look at the escortspeak site their post count is dropping again as well. Thus I doubt that there is a mass movement to that site. Another new site run by Drey and Tri has all but closed the South of the Boarder escort forum here.

 

Quite a few crediable and entertaining posters haven't posted or stopped posting after the MC was brought down several months ago. Also, the topics have been pretty boring and/or are simply rehash of what has been posted here countless times.

 

Since daddy began posting reviews I've begun following them more than when HB had done it. daddy doesn't appear to have the same favorites as HB and tends to post more first time reviews of escorts.

 

I received an email from a former poster to this board that suggested people like T-OZ, TY, Firecat, and Marc Anthony have set up their own private MC for drama free communication. I don't know if that is true however, it appears to make sense.

Lone Star, thanks for the four star report. It does make me bet that you have been posting here under a different name since a newcomer would be unlikely to be so familiar with the history here. But things do get slow here from time to time and occasionally a cattle prod is needed to stir things up. Or you can go back into the archives and find an older post that still carries some interest.

Personally, I just got busy with a few other projects and some hardcore chilling out on a hot beach (wasn't this an amazing summer?) in addition to some travel/overnight jobs. I'm now back in school but making an effort to post again. I'm sure the Gaiety closing and some other factors did play a part in things being slow here but I also think there are just a lot of other things on peoples' minds lately (Katrina, for one) and things will pick up here again.

I would say that has nothing to do with it. The site where all of those "interesting people" now post averages around one post a day. far fewer than this site.

 

If what that group had to say was so compelling or interesting, i'm sure others would have followed them there.

 

It seems that you have confused "interesting" with "boorish" and "ill-mannered".

 

Perhaps bad their bad behavior is entertaining the same way that Jerry Springer is entertaining or that death in a traffic accident catches one's attention as he passes it. But, it's hardly interesting or compelling.

Actually, mbarz is partially correct. There *is* a relationship between those who have been banned and those who no longer participate, but he's got the relationship wrong. Instead of puffing up my chest and grandstanding like a blowhard without facts, I actually asked several of the missing.

 

The relationship is that there aren't more banishments. Former regulars don't participate here because this site tolerates boorish children with bad attitudes. The fact that few people participate in the other site further bolsters this conclusion.

 

The site became more irritant than entertainment for them, and I can certainly understand their decision not to participate.

Did you ever have a sitcom that you loved and watched every week, but after several years you found yourself watching less often? I suspect that is what has happened to a number of the regular posters who kept this site lively a few years ago. Hooboy's death also was a dramatic break that brought many re-alignments among the participants. The site certainly has a different feel to me than it did a year ago--although I still check in regularly, I read through much more quickly and find little that lures me to participate. Nowadays it seems more useful for the reviews, and the Deli is the only forum that continues to get a reasonable volume of new posts. Since I hardly ever hire anymore, it's like reading the Wall St. Journal when one has ceased investing: it's mildly interesting but no longer really important information for me.
